I think the primary reason is the economy. These types of layoffs are happening everywhere, across all industries. It just finally caught up to the video game industry.
But I agree that innovation will come from independent developers who get a platform via Xbox Live Arcade and PSN.
Somebody should try putting the camera through the goggles so we can see what it looks like to look through them. Using night vision goggles has been a dream of mine for a long time (I know, lame dream... it's not the only one I have hehehe).
I bet it'll be a decent movie. That Gyllenhal guy, however you spell his name, he's a good actor. The Princess is a Bond Girl. Sir Ben, too, he's a great actor.
it was collaborative.
Wow, that looks like it was a lot of fun
I also like back stories. And I think this cross-media presentation is a great idea.
But, I also like games that deliver great stories themselves. Why can't the back story be presented in the game? Does this give them a free pass to leave plot elements out of a game?
Wow. I didn't realize Ubisoft was doing this. That is a pretty neat marketing idea to generate some buzz and deepen the game's mythology.
More tracks is always good. I wonder if they'll have Kansas Speedway?
I think that anybody who enjoys playing these Monkey Island games they are also going to enjoy Brutal Legend. Tim Schafer's deadpan humor carry on into both titles.
Want!
The lack of collectibles was an aspect I really liked about Darkest of Days. I could actually play the game, focus on the mission, without worrying that I was missing out on something.
You know NASCAR got it's start from Moonshine barons using fast cars to outrun police during Prohibition here in the US? Pretty neat history...
I typically don't bother hunting down collectibles in games unless there is a specific benefit for doing so. For example in Brutal Legend you gain extra health or regeneration for every 10 (out of 120) stone serpents you free.
Or I will hunt for collectibles if they support the storyline like in Bioshock.
If collectibles simply give XP, then I only hunt them if I think I need more XP to get through a level or to build a stronger character.
But if you ...
You mention Aussie Girls and the Beach and I'm off in imagination land before I can read the rest of your comment...
None coming, Greywolf.
For that much money I would want a bedroom and bathroom in there.
Now that is an extensive list! This game should be a lot of fun!
Disclaimer: GT5 should also be a lot of fun for those w/ a PS3.
And I just got Rock Band last month, so I'm just starting to get into them. Of course I've played them before, but I had never had my own copy.
But nothing is more infuriating than having to play through a song you don't like. Or one where your part is too repetitive.
I also don't necessarily think it's a bad idea to have a GH/RB for multiple bands and genres. I tend to look at rhythm games as another format for bands, like CDs, LPs, Music Videos, etc.
...
I have no idea how difficult it is to make a game region free. But it's probably politics & money behind it. It's kind of BS that games are limited to regions anyways.
It does make sense.
