Going back to the old Star Wars PC games there were tons of fantastic games. The Dark Forces and Jedi Knight Series. The X-Wing/Tie Fighter series (which I would give my 3rd nut for a remake). That squad based FPS with clone troopers. But with those also came some pretty stinkers like Rebellion and the multiple poor attempts at making an RTS.

The first season is tough to get through. I had season 1 back when it came out and tried 3 times to watch it and couldn't get into it. But about a year ago I forced myself through it and about 6 episodes in I was hooked. It's a fantastic show.

I don't disagree with that at all. But it still doesn't change the fact that they wanted everything that releases now, from movies, video games, to books, to be canon.
It won't be cancelled. The old Star Wars game that got cancelled happened right after Disney bought Star Wars. They wanted to rebuild the Star Wars universe and get rid of anything that wasn't already shown in the movies or Clone Wars animated series. That's why Force Unleashed is no longer canon. If that game was still being developed at the time of that buyout Disney probably would have had it cancelled too because it doesn't go along with the new canon they are building.
I don't believe they are going the Force Unleashed route and making the Jedi powers seem over the top. I read that early on. That they wanted the gameplay to feel like a cross between Force Unleashed and Uncharted, but without the over the top Jedi powers. Plus, you play as a Padawan. So even if they did have overpowered Jedi in it, I would think his abilities would be minimal compared to Knights and Masters. I understand he will likely vet stronger during the game, but it would be a bit ...
