The irony is that no matter how much DDOS "protection" is implemented, companies can still get DDOS' d. It might take more of an effort, but it can still happen.

They dont have to be legitimate accounts. Have you ever tried to log into something with an incorrect password? It takes whatever service longer to realize the password or username is wrong and turn it away than it does if its legit.
The point is to flood the servers with login REQUESTS. Whether the login info is legit or not doesn't matter. Either way it clogs up the process.

I'd have to agree. StarCraft is still the greatest RATS of all time in my opinion. The sequel was just as good, mostly because they didn't change a whole lot aside from upgrading the graphics.
