My buddy got an early beta access code yesterday as well and he said pretty much the same thing as this article.
He said its very polished and feels great. Also, the amount of attention and detail they put into it makes it feel like you really are in a Star Wars movie, from the graphics, sounds, character models, weapons....everything. I don't believe that the guy that claimed this ever mentioned WHEN he played this alpha build. How do we know it wasn't an early alpha build from months ago?
I'll hold judgement for the beta. If that has issues, then yes, i'll begin worrying. But i'm certainly not going to freak out because some guy claims to be a tester and also claims that he played an alpha build version of the game at some vague time that was never mentioned.

Right? I mean, we know that Bungie was working on Destiny for years before they joined Activision. There was a hidden easter egg in Halo ODST for god's sake. You can't tell me that with all concept art that was completely missing from the final product, as well as Bungie's previous track record, that it was their idea to release a game with a stripped story.
Bungie clearly had a vision that was different than the final product.

You aren't wrong. Some custom matches are great. But there are also a lot of terrible ones. Like in BF4 when people set idiotic, nonsensical rules like "No Stingers." Yet they fly around in helicopters shooting everyone.

So aside from flying an X-Wing, Tie Fighter, or any other air vehicle during a ground mission, please help me understand how this is not all ground combat? (If there is a stage that takes place on a Star Destroyer in orbit, or on the Death Star, I would still consider that ground combat.)

Its not Battlefield in space because its all ground combat.
And thats where the real problem lies. The DLC just isn't enough keep people busy. Especially now that you can literally make any piece of armor in the game Raid Level gear and hit the level cap very easily.
I had all 3 of my characters up to lvl 34 after just a few weeks of House of Wolves releasing. All it took was a few weeks of Prison Elders to earn the shards to upgrade my armor.
