Mass Effect 3's multiplayer was awesome. And so was the campaign, if you ignore the ending. But gameplay wise, it was great. You also didn't have to pay for microtransactions if you didn't want to and you can still get the best loot.
In fact, i played a few hours of campaign, then tried multiplayer and didn't go back to campaign for months.
Also, the multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 did have an impact on the campaign, but it didn't matter ...

Well that is true. The Fox-Men movies are horrible garbage. Unfortunately the general, non-comic reading public has no idea what a terrible representation the movies are of these characters and they keep eating these movies up every time a new one comes out. Fox makes more than enough money from non-comic reading fans to keep these movies going as long as they want.
Yeah. They can use any characters they want. At the end of the day Marvel still owns them all, just not the film rights because they sold them almost 20nyears ago.
They CHOOSE not to so that they can hype characters that are in their own Marvel Studios films. So because Marvel Studios dont own the film rights to mutants and can't use them in their own films, they won't use them in their game either.
Wolverine is the only one I can see them still using...
Considering that Wolverine is also an Avenger (when he's not dead, like now) he might still make it in.

Let me give you a quick rundown of WHY I will not buy this if there are no X-Men.
1. Back in the late 90's, Marvel was in danger of going Bankrupt, so they sold multiple character rights to other film companies so they can make movies. Fox and Sony were the big ones. Fox got X-Men and Fantastic Four, and Daredevil. Sony got Spider-Man. Lionsgate got Punisher and Ghost Rider I believe. The contract stated that if these movie companies did not have a movie in development ...
I still won't get excited until its officially confirmed. There were too many people coming out and saying its not in development after the supposed leaks over the past week.
I'm not sure I buy this until its official.
Even then, no X-Men? No buy. I'm tired of Marvel giving them the shaft because they sold the movie rights back in the late 90's. Stop punishing the fans because of your mistake, Marvel.
Yeah. Marvel doesn't own movie rights for X-Men. All those movies are made by Fox. So since Marvel can't use them in their own movies they have basically been giving the X-Men the shaft in all forms of entertainment in an attempt to kill interest in them.
Its sad too. X-Men are what got me into comics. And if they don't include at least 2 or 3 X-Men in this game I will not buy it. Wolverine and Cyclops at least.

Possibly because the sales dropped so low on MvC3 that they didn't see the value in renewing again?
However, a new title would bring in sales all over again. So it might actually be worth it for a new installment instead of renewing for an older game that no one plays or buys anymore.

People "got it in their heads that this small team would be able to deliver all these features" because they said they would! And even when they hit that point of realization that they WOULDN'T be able to deliver all of it, they said nothing and continued talking about all these things right up until launch.

No. The community wants honesty.
If they found out that certain features wouldn't make it into the game at launch then they should have come out said that those features may need to wait until a future update.
Its okay to talk about features you want in the game. Its not okay to continue pretending like these features will be present on launch day knowing full well they will not.

The two paths of production you mention are all well and good. But if you take that 2nd path, and like you said, have a general idea of what you want and then throw ideas at it until the good ones stick, then the last thing you should do is go tell everyone what WILL be in the game before you know if it will stick or not.

Right. But Minecraft didn't come out of the box claiming to have all the features it does now. Minecraft was a little known project that got released almost completely under the radar and grew from there.
The creators of Minecraft didn't go on and on for years about all these amazing things their game would have, and then release a bare bones version with tons of missing content.
Thats a very basic and vague explanation of the game.
It also doesn't go into ANY detail at all about all the features that were supposed to be in the game, that weren't.
I'm all for an exploration game. But I don't appreciate being told the game would have all this cool stuff, and then when it releases a lot of it is missing.
People screamed and cried originally because most of the stuff in this patch were what was promised for day one.
The only real addition here that wasn't promised originally was having your own freighters and base building.
It has nothing to do with people feeling it isn't what THEY want. Itnhas everything to do with multiple promised features being left out.
