The game doesn't run at a sustanied 30fps in either single or multiplayer (on-line) modes. Disappointing considering the graphics are not as defined as I was hoping. Hell, its as though Bungie never heard of anti-aliasing....
...what the hell is with the frame rate drops in multiplayer! makes the game feel more sluggish than it needs to. Also, where the hell are the controls to adjust sound settings!!! the music and voices come through loud but the sounds of your weapons seems somewhat muted. Before you ask, I have tried in stereo and in 5.1 modes and still the same result.

...I do have an HDTV for your information. A Samsung also as it happens. I don't yet have an HD playback unit but have a DVD that upscales to 1080p. I realise that is nowhere near as good as native 1080p however, there is no way I would part with $2,995 (NZD) to buy a unit for HD movie playback as the quality is just not worth it.

Gears of War multiplayer sucks big hairy dogs balls! If you're not the host or live next door to the host then its just plain laggy. Also, all the multiplayer modes are all about running to the middle of a map to grab the best weapons for a 30 second showdown.
When they finally released some new maps and game mode it did get better however, there is no denying that the host advantage still plays a major role in GOW on-line.

A huge factor the PS2s success is the fact that its designed as a general usage gaming platform - not as the media hub in a lounge. You wont see too many people buying a 2nd or 3rd PS3 to place in their kids bedrooms or as an Xmas present for a grandchild. Its just too expensive and packed with bells and whilstles that are just not needed by the masses in a bed...

Whatever people say about the 360 one thing is for sure - its delivering on its promises right now. When/if the PS3 does then maybe I'll look at getting one...but not if all you fanboys are indicative of what it means to be a Sony owner...

I have to say that I am a little disappointed by the length of the game however, I won't be playing in "Normal" mode so hopefully will get a good 8-10 hours out of it. Which for me is long enough otherwise I start to get bored with the game.

I prefer to wait for www.Gamerankings.com to update their site as they average out all the reviews to provide the overall score. You can clearly see which games are AAA by their overall average and which are not.

Can't believe how many people bag a game because the visuals are not as good as other games. Just goes to show that gameplay, be it single or multi-player, is still very much paramount to what determines a great game.

I purchased a new laptop with a high spec graphic card and it couldn't even run Sims 2. After a barrage of patches and new software drivers it limped along. Hell, I want to play games not stuffing around with installing more software just to get the software I purchased to run.
