...Sounds like the PS3 will have better mod support for the console version although if MS decide to open up XBL to offer free downloadable content that may change...yeah, I can see that happening.

I am very much interested to see the differences in visual quality between the 360 and PS3 versions. Epic are not what I would consider being a "lazy" developer and its not a 360 to PS3 port...

I have not seen anything on the 360 that could not be done on th...

However, well done Sony!

...really change things in the HD market however, I currently don't support either format as 'm waiting for a clear winner to emerge. HD pickup in New Zealand has been terrible so neither is really an option just yet. However, that will change once we have a single option to pick from.

...the 360 Core, Premium and Elite in the UK? I ask because these new PS3 prices seem like an incredible deal and an extremely good move by Sony.

I wish we could see the same good deals down here in New Zealand...

No price drop in New Zealand.

I hope the consumer will get to hear of the new 40 GB model hitting stores soon so they don't spend $1,199 (NZD) on the 60 GB PS3 when a much cheaper one is just around the corner.

...many have called the MGS franchise as nothing more than a series of interactive movies but because its a PS3 exclusive they value it more than their own life. So, don't come in here trying to start a flame war over your perecption of an exclusive 360 game.

If you dont own a 360 or intend getting this game then f**k off.

...you managed to roll off your mother long enough to make such a profound comment. What kind of f**king neanderthal would even compare an arcade racer to a driving simulator. F**king fanboys will do anything to spark a flame war against the other console.

If you want to compare GT5 against a 360 driving simulator then pick Forza. However, how about we compare the 5th generation Forza against GT5 rather than a 5th generation GT against a 2nd generation Forza.

Yes I have enjoyed PGR1-3 and was expecting PGR4 to be a true next gen version of the game. Sounds a little as though its not quite there yet...maybe PGR5...maybe...

...lets hope this works for Sony as no one can disagree that this is not a reaction to Sony's lack of fortune thus far in the next-gen wars. If this works, expect MS to release lower priced SKUs of the 360 and maybe a beefed up Elite - which will need a price cut anyway to make it cheaper than the new 40 GB PS3 SKU.

If it does not work...then Sony maybe the 3DO, GameCube or Dreamcast of this round. I for one hope it does work as I do not enjoy the prospect of one manufacturer...

...yet another fanboy showing that to own a PS3 you first have to become a major c*nt.

I wish this site would get rid of fanboys or only allow people to post comments against stories applicable to the consoles they own. That way I could easily filter out any comments made by fanboys against a respective console.

...they should update the Elite SKU with built in Wi-Fi and HD-DVD unit to take on the new Sony 40GB SKU. However, they would still need to make such an updated Elite cheaper than the Sony 40GB SKU. Why? because there is a perception that Blu-Ray and Cell is cutting edge technology and if that it is cheaper to buy than whats in the 360 (Elite) then you know which way some consumers may go.

I will be interested to see what MS does with the Elite given that the 40GB PS3 is rea...

I typically can't be bothered with playing last gen games on my new hardware. However, Sony has some killer titles on their PS2 that I would still want to play when I get my PS3, for example, Resident Evil 4 and God of War 2.

I was waiting for the 60GB PS3 to have a big price drop like their previous gen PS2 did after 12 months. They eventually obliterated the competition because of the slimline PS2 which, featured all the capability of its bigger counterpart minus the HDD ba...

...why not apply exchange rates to determine the retail price in NZ plus the cost of shipping. If NZ is such a small market we don't contribute a hell of a lot to the big picture anyway.

We all know the PS3 has potential, but if I had paid $1,199 (NZD) for a gaming console that was still just about the potential I would be pissed. I am glad I did not jump in just so I could be one of the first in NZ to boast that I owned one. Once the PS3 starts to realise its potential it s...

...is rumored to be priced at $799. I cannot see how they have managed to slash $400 (NZD) off the price (the 60GB is currently $1,199 NZD).

Sony is definitely screwing New Zealanders with the price of the 60GB at present. However, if they do release the 40GB PS3 at $799 I'll definitely consider getting one.

Ok, first off Halo 3 was an immense game with a very rich on-line component however, what put me off was:

1. Gravity. I hate the way you can jump casually around. Obviously this fits in perfectly in the Halo universe but I prefer more realistic gravity in my games.

2. Energy Shield. Its great h...

If Sony can release the 40GB model for $799 NZD then that makes it the same price as the Xbox 360 Elite in NZ! However, I for one will get a 40GB PS3 (@799NZD) only once I have seen it reviewed and play tested as I am not ...

...why then did all the Sony fans jump all over MS for their backward compatibility issues on the 360????

I for one have never given a sh%t about backward compatibility on any of the systems (except on PCs). However, Sony can;t one week sing from the rooftops about its backward compatibility pissing all over MS and then end up doing the extact same thing.

Ha Ha, look at all the disagrees and the comeback from KingofPS3. Getting PS3 fanboys to hit disagree is as easy as shooting fish in a barrel. In fact, its a little too easy...kind of like picking on the disabled.
