...what a pile of sh*t that game is. I was lucky enough to get a beta key and looked forward to playing my first ever SOCOM experience. Well, what a snore fest. Slow menus, ok graphics (don't even look at good as the year old COD4), buggy gameplay just don't make it fun and therefore I won't be buying it.
No, I did not suck at the game its just doesn't have that same pick up and go factor as a game like COD4 has. Keep in mind I'm in New Zealand and they could not even give aw...
...Resistance is no Gears of War. Thank goodness, as I like my games to have good AI and to last longer than 7 hours.
...artistic direction, different platforms and its not trying to be another Crysis.
Its hard not to admit that its easily one of the best looking FPS games on a console. I repeat, on a CONSOLE.
...That looks intense. Can't wait to play the sequel to what I consider one of the best FPS games I've played in the last couple of years. The first one may not have been original but it sure as hell was fun.
Resistance 2 just looks fantastic and I cant wait to earn me some trophies!
Ok, so none of the other consoles have a service like HOME but is that a good reason to use it? I happen to like simple menus and fast navigation of game specific options. I certainly can't see myself taking minutes to walk around a 3D environment to do something that may take seconds through a standard menu. Imagine if a site like Button Masher or Trademe opted for such elaborate interfaces? I tell you, you'd miss auctions on your watchlist every time!
I also have trouble with i...
...do nothing for me. Looks like they have dropped realism in favor of a more cartoon look. I will really have to wait for the reviews before I look at buying. Then I'll wait and see how many people decide to play it on-line.
COD2 is still the best console WWII game. On-line was fun!!!
You make a good point but what if I just want to play games?
I personally don't give a damn about creating an apartment and walking around a 3D world that replaces a menu system. Sure the 360 and Wii do not have HOME but because its not a Second Life or Sims game I'm wondering who it will appeal to LONGER TERM.
I will give it a go and if it has benefit I will use it. But if it doesn't I wont use it - simple as that.
HOME to me looks like those fancy GU...
Paul W. S. Anderson. Both he and Uwe are responsible for some of the worst movies of all time.
...I have the same problem with Warhawk. Hardly anyone plays in New Zealand anymore so it will soon be deleted to make space for other downloads...
...no resale value...disappointing.
...is not relevant for New Zealand users. The headlines it went live with were already a week old and they still have not been updated.
If you are going to offer a news and weather service then it needs to be kept current to remain relevant. Life with Playstation is not being kept relevant for New Zealand users.
Mind you, it can only improve...
...how much it is cause once you buy it there are no refunds or exchanges. I really wish Sony would start some sort of credit trading scheme so if you don't like the game you can trade it for a discount against another PSN title.
...looks great, offers some ok features but I don't see myself going back to it time and time again. However, I am prepared to give it a go but it will depend on how well New Zealand is supported. That is, it looks like HOME will be quite broadband intensive so if we don't get a dedicated server or two for HOME in NZ then we'll have to go via international pipelines...which often means extremely slow downloads.
...progression. Today there are more benefits with going separate GPU and CPU but give it 5 years and who knows. Wasn't it one Bill Gates who said that 640k would always be enough?
I know NVIDIA and ATI are laughing at Intel's advances in graphics prowess in public but behind closed doors I'll bet they are coming up with new business models to defend their market share. Just out of interest, how much market share does NVidia and ATI have in the low/mid range PC and Laptop mark...
Wow, are you suggesting that all console owners have True HD TVs and
6 Speaker True Dolby HD compatible sound systems?
There is a reason they say as soon as you buy a PC its out of date - the PC continues to evolve and not stand still for 5-10 years. Look at what the top specs for a PC were back in 2000 when the PS2 was released and now look at them. High-end PC specs are already eclipsing 360/PS3 specs.
However, I don't buy into PC gaming anymore because of ...
...they need to charge 1 XBL subscription per console and not per XBL account. This is the No.1 reason I gave up playing on-line on the 360 as I now have 3 kids old enough to want to play on-line and there is no way I'm paying for XBL x 3.
If Sony did that then it would kill a game like Little Big Planet.
...Little Big Planet will be dominating PS3 sales in a few weeks. Bring on the Sack Boy!!!
...I played BioShock on the 360 last year and it was a good experience albeit quite a scripted one. However, to those who have not played it you may wish to wait 4-5 weeks after its launched and pick it up second hand especially if like me, you're on a tight budget.
I remember buying BioShock new on the 360 at $119 NZD and within 4 weeks you could pick it up for $75 NZD off of second hand auction sites. Yes I know we should be showing some support for this game and buying new...
...is only of use if it remains relevant for its user. I live in New Zealand and so far the headlines have not updated and Auckland is the only city represented. I will keep an eye out for updates but until NZ gets updated headlines its of little use other than to provide some periodic novelty value.
...is by far one of the most cinematic and plot rich games I have ever played. Its by far one of the best looking games ever to grace a games console.
Only negatives:
1. The game had to end.
2. Metal Gear Solid Online just didn't do it for me.
...releasing this game now is like re-releasing last years blockbuster movie again for those who did not see it first time around. Yes, its still the same movie but the hype has passed and its now up against the new crop of blockbusters (i.e. Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet).
I played it on the 360 and apart from it being a little too scripted for my liking it was enjoyable. However, PS3 owners should be supporting PS3 exclusives first and foremost I'm afraid.
