Tell you what, let's wait until the Ouya is actually released and sold in the marketplace before we debate if it has a chance. Right now, the Ouya is vaporware and it will probably never see the light of day, with the exception of a limited release for those who payed $100 and upward for the kickstarter.

Ouya is a great idea, but thats all it will ever be. I hope I am wrong, but until the Ouya is released to be brought that console is nothing more than vaporware at best ...

I agree completely, I am actually holding off buying a Wii for the Wii U. This way I get all the great Wii games I missed and all the new Wii U stuff. With that said, I will eventually buy a Wii when it's like sub $70, just to mess around with it. For now, I am waiting for the Wii U.

The quote in the article is talking more about a cash investment and not a support investment for the console. The fact that they are able to make decent ports for under a million euro is simply amazing.

One of the biggest excuses a lot of publishers come up with for not porting a game is development cost. If the Wii U allow for cheaper ports, than that means more support for the system. This can also lead to more original content for the Wii U because they are able to under...

Nintendo also owns the rights to Pokemon. Make no mistake, they are an insane force to be recon with.

This game sold less than a 150k copies. That is a huge failure for a AAA styled developer.

If sex does sell games, then Suda51 should have had the cheerleader nude throughout the game because this game sold terribly. Thats a shame because the game was actually fun and I enjoyed playing through the whole game. If anything, the over sexualized element only hindered sells for this game.

Dude it's called cheap publicity. For $10k he is going to get publicity that would have cost him tens of thousands of dollars otherwise. He might be believe in the console, but make no mistake this is nothing more than a publicity stunt.

Think I am wrong, than answer this question for me: Did you even know who Robert Bowling is let alone the game called Human Element? If yes, is that because you are deep into the indie scene or because Robert Bowling is such a big name a...

I would say, just keep an open mind to the Wii U. It's okay not to believe in the system right now, but don't shut yourself off to the possibility that it might be good.

100% on target. It's a shame that so many other "hardcore" gamers can't seem to see the truth anymore. I listen to my hardcore gamer friends talk about stuff like the Wii U and it saddens me to see how far they have gone from reality. I want to scream for them to wake up and see the truth, but I just keep my peace now. Whenever I try to point out what you have said, they just ignore the facts and pretend like the "hardcore" gamer is still the ones the video game in...

I am buying all the new consoles regardless. It's funny hearing console people talk about graphics anyways. Let's be honest, PCs make console graphics look like they are stuff made in the NES days. Have you seen how amazing Skyrim can look or how good GTA 4 looks with that graphics mod?. Nothing on consoles currently touches PC level of graphical performance and this will remain true in the future. Of course, you have console players arguing that the gap in graphics between PC and con...

This game definitely looks cool, would love to try it out.

Exactly, the $950k was suppose to be enough to fund the project, now it isn't? So what would have happened if the only reached $950k? Would they then have had another kickstarter? The Ouya is so shady, but even so I want to believe in this device. I think a lot of people do and that is exactly why it will be so devastating when it turns out to be vaporware.

Of course they are looking for funding outsider of kickstarter, this whole thing was one big stunt for them to sell their idea anyways. Ouya is such a money grab, but you know I do hope I am wrong.

I hope this Ouya thing is on the level, but nothing I have heard or seen suggest this console is anything more than a money grab.

I don't question the benefit of Epic's new Engine. I have seen the demo of it and it is clear that this is a huge step and will greatly help game developers. The problem is that far to many game companies don't understand that while UE4 maybe amazing, if it sky rockets game production cost than it just isn't worth it.

4939d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

The problem with this statement isn't that you are wrong, but it is the cost of the Unreal Engine. UE4 will be incredibly expensive and that along bars many developers from obtaining it. Yet they still try to compete with it by wasting a ton of time and resources in developing their own in-house engine with the hope that this engine will power numerous other games. Bleeding edge technology comes at bleeding edge prices. Buying UE4 is going to put many development houses at the point where...

Bleeding edge technology also means absurdly higher developing cost. If video game companies keep playing the "lets have the best graphics" game then they are going to go out of business left and right. Just look at the number of developers who went out of business playing the bleeding edge technology game. Sadly, more and more developers will continue down this road to their utter dismay. Make no mistake folks, all Epic cares about is selling their graphics engine and if a company ...

Last time I checked, Indie developers liked money too and you are fooling yourselves if you don't think this console will be hacked to allow for all games to be downloaded for free. Until the Ouya creators start talking about how they intend to combat piracy I will continue to view this console as questionable at best.

4940d ago 1 agree5 disagreeView comment

For those of us who actually know a little something about console development and why the Big 3 are a closed network it is pretty obvious that Ouya is questionable at best. The reality is that the Ouya creators claim they want to sell games from Indie developers and major developers. Yet they support hackers altering the system, if they allow this to happen freely then hackers will make it so you can download all the games for free. Just look at a jail broken ipod device, you can download ev...
