I actually liked the stargazer tie in. IT gives you reason to play the whole trilogy, so he can tell another story because the kid asks for one. reminds me of bastion.
I just think it's bs that some people are invalidating all the ride up to the ending. 3 games and countless decisions, and some people are saying they were for nothing. I'm sorry but that is just stupid. some of the complaints I've seen are definitely valid, and I can agree with some of them, however I will not agree with the idea that the 5 year ride meant nothing in the end because of a 5 minute (maybe less) slice in comparison to 100s of hours. Irregardless of the defense that...
@kyle
I think the video makes good points. All this discussion of the ending reminds me of the massive discussion around Limbo's ending. However, it's Hollowtipz comment that I take issue with.They're pretty much saying people are foolish for believing that the ending was real.
So this random guy's theories (as intresting as they are) are now fact?
Good read.
This is the divide. Opinion and fact. The divide that a lot of gamers just can't seem to understand. It's the same reasoning that informs people to believe that 10 is the same thing as perfect. Also, I find a lot of gamers don't judge a game based on any basic rubric. These reviewers look at a lot of things, including their subjectivities, what a game is billed as, and a general idea of what makes a game good (graphics, gameplay, etc). I mean, some people have called ME3 trash bec...
well, that's incredibly dismissive.
Basically, I can understand why some people feel like the ending was disappointing. The paths it takes you down may not be as personal as some were expecting, and some questioned weren't awnsered. The feeling of having things unanswered was only exacerbated by the investment and personalization most people put into the trilogy.
However, I felt the ending was cathartic. I mean it wasn't the worst ending I have ever seen, and I find hard for people to expect an ending t...
I had no problem with the ending (after the credits). I can see why some people would be disappointed. However, considering how crushingly dark ME3 is, it was nice to get some hope. I just think it was a little bit much for people to expect every questioned to be answered, espcially considering the massive catalog of choices in the trilogy. If anything the ending, made it easier for me to start the whole series again. But I'll be returning to SSX for a while before I make that commitment ...
If ME3 is average, devs might as well just pack it in. No point in trying to make games anymore. I kid, but in my opinion this game is far,far from average.
Oh man, look at some of the comments about this game over the past week. People wonder why no one cares about gamers that constantly complain about everything. It's just funny.
Honestly, I think a good amount of gamers are too damn hard to please. they forget the fact that there are boundaries and demand companies to do everything they want. Kotaku made some good points. It's just crazy how irrtable gamers can get so quickly. I personally didn't care for the ending to the last scott pilgrim book, but I still love the series. It ended, that's all it really needed to do. People are acting like the ride meant nothing.
I'm not done with ...
Sorry if his tastes aren't as distinguished as yours beastly. ME3 is a great game, you act like he said lost planet 2. Damn, why is everyone hating so obtusely?
Is this blade runner or?
It was so awkward. It had the stink of EA pressure all over it. It amazes me that ME3, from what I've played, is as good as it is. EA has definitely had their hand in Bioware's junk from a design perspective, but the game still feels undeniable mass effect.
Props to them.
@dedicatedtogamers
I suppose that was a woefully uninformative comment. I should clarify. I feel a lot of gamers attack things about a game besides the game. Your opnion on the ACTUAL game, so as long as their is reason, is totally valid. But people are calling ME3 trash because there is some dlc, that isn't even great or because there is a gay sex scene. The littlest thing can set some gamers off from buying a game to hating anything a company makes.
Gamers are cry babies with wallets most of the time.
At this point, it's not about the money. For me, it's the principle. I bought the game, but I was so irked by Capcom's malicious greed, that I couldn't enjoy it too much. So I put in mass effect 3, I had no inclination to play SFxT so I sold it. There's just a point where saying, "I have money, I'll buy it" isn't helping anyone and only legitimizes capcom's mentality which abuses the wallets of their fans.
@Wolf
Exactly, dude. I don't know why TIPZ is trying to evangelize everyone. You didn't like the ending? alright. Not everyone else has to accept your word as rule.
I feel like the ending suite the tone of the game, but you can't compare Mass Effect to other games. It's not really like other narrative driven games in most senses. I can agree that all this uproar is a bit much, but it definitely has some validity.
