I have to agree with you on that point. Games are gonna be more expensive to make and considering that third party publishers did, not make any money with wii (apart from ubisoft with just dance.)they will use wiiu as a stop gap until ps4/ 720 comes out and then support will be limited to few sport franchises and shovel ware .
Playstation is a much stronger brand than you think.
If x360 launched the way ps3 did, xbx will probably be dead.
But ps3 not only survived the high price, programming issues, network issues it made the brand stronger.
Playstation did not dominate this generation but neither did microsoft nor nintendo.
Here in the uk Sony have finally started to market the vita with some great adverts
on tv. And they are played regularly on every channels that is.

I ve gotta say, going through all my favourites ps1 games again, reminds me why i love playstation in the first place.

67 millions of core gamers have a ps3.
The funny thing i saw with the NA market is that x360 sold almost twice as much as ps3 and yet apart from shooters, multiplat games sell as much on ps3 as on 360 (madden13, darksiders2..as late examples)
Not bad for a machine that most haters says it s only used as a blueray player.
At 37, i consider myself a core gamer. For the past three generations, my main brand of gaming has been playstation.
But i always bought a nintendo. Because core gamers wanna play the best games available no matter which platform it s on.
I don,t regret buying a 360 for gears, halo.
I don,t think any 360 player who bought a ps3 just for playing gow3 uncharted, infamous, heavy rain..regretted their purchase. So why should i not buy a wiiu even if it s just for playing m...
And yet 360 cannot do a game like uncharted,infamous2 or gow3, gt5.!!!Etc
Agree or not wiiu is, so far ,the best next gen console.
As much as i don,t think wiiu will sell anywhere near as wii, i still believe it can succeed but they will need better support from thirdparty publishers.
What i mean is a genuine effort to try something new and not just pz3/360 ports with xtra gamepad screen options added on. And this where nintendo will have they re work cut out in my opinion. Because as soon as ps4/720 comes out, most studios will be tempted to work with the more advanced tech.

3ds launched at 249.00 to me it was expensive.
wii u launch at 300.00 to me is a decent price.
Might be more powerful but it s gonna take a little while for developer to make use of it. And like you said 1 year later the 2 true next gen consoles are coming. In the next 2 years third party publishers will make x,360/ps3 port for wiiu until they completely abandon the machine for next gen projects.
Wii had thirdparty support until ps2 truly died in the west.
