A lot of people were disappointed in The Last of Us 2. A lot of people enjoyed it. Between your example of FF7 and Last of Us, you don't factor in the unknown variables (comparison between end-user ratio, awareness of the actual vote, etc.).
Personally I think it's fine - Nowhere near GoTY, but a solid 6-7/10.

While his writing skills may be sub-par at this point, his management and direction could still be good. There are a million variables which we simply don't know (some of which might be clauses pertaining to specific OKRs/KPIs)

On a serious note, I hope they focus on everything that makes games great, not just what makes them pretty or cinematic (The Hollywood aspects).
Nioh 2 was amazing, but there were some hardcore shortcomings in terms of storytelling and level designs.
It was more of a Nioh 1.5 with a customizable character, while Ghost was more tightly put together in most of it's aspects (outside of some repititive grinds).
It was one of those "Sexy babe kills everything in sight" hack-n-slash games. Pretty fun for it's time but not sure the gameplay is good enough to keep up the style over substance theme today though.
If it comes out good, I'll deffo try it out again :D
No issues on mine. It's running like a kitten and without the heavy exhaust of Ps4 Pro, so I'm all good.

Yeah, i ran the platinum through 4 playthroughs, so I'm pretty much done for now as well.

The cinema is an experience involving big ass screens, and a more focused kind of entertainment.
Games have a lot fluffing about. I like that, don't get me wrong, but it's still padding.
This whole 70$ thing is more or less just a market test, to see if it's viable to pull off.
