Nah its a missed opportunity. I love how both you and Krib keep downplaying the lack of VR and actual games on Xbox. I own an Xbox and outside of of Cuphead, a couple of 360 games I own there has been almost no reason to use mine. I would love to have more options and reasons to use my Xbox. Right now its a dust collector.

I own all the systems including and Xbox One. This year has been awful in terms of 1st party games for Xbox. SoT and SoD2 weren't great and Forza is great, but, not everyone plays driving games so my Xbox is collecting dust. PS4 and Switch have had great games all year. The Switch isn't even 2 years old and there are MORE exclusives than Xbox heading into their 6th year and you might not see that as an issue I do however.

Free to play games are locked behind a paywall. There's a huge one right there. Those F2P are actually free on PC, PS4 and Switch.
You should be able to go back and get the promo from the store if its only a couple days. I know I did it for my customers when I worked there.

You're correct. I worked for EB/Gamestop for 10 years and MS does indeed foot the bill. The price difference comes off the system so they can count the sales for the Xbox One and bump up the sales artificially. MS pays back Gamestop the difference. Its amazing how misinformed people are here thinking Gamestop is footing the bill. That has and never will happen. MS sponsors them by giving back the difference. I worked for Gamestop/EB Games for 10 years so I would know. MS buys the games to so even though the copy of Red Dead or whatever game promotion by taking the games price off the system so it also counts a unit sale for the Xbox too. Its how they bump up sales for Xbox versions of the games.

Is that why the last 9 or so Tales games only released on Playstation systems? Last I check Berseria, Zestiria, Xillia 1 and 2, Graces F, Hearts, Symphonia, Heroes, Radiance and now on the 10th being Vespiria being released on Xbox again, they've missed 9 games.
Generations aside, general customers don't care or know about generations. Pretty sure Nintendo doesn't care either. The Switch has taken up considerable mindshare away from Xbox and they don't even need HD graphics to do it just a bunch of exclusives.
