Saw this in the paper two nights ago. Made me chuckle a bit, you'd think they'd have a better editor for this type of thing.
I can definitely vouch for Lost Odyssey, Nier, and Resonance of Fate. All are some of the best JRPG gems of the generation, and rival the PS1/2's classics.
Madworld I didn't care for honestly. I paid the full price of admission for it but the combat got a bit stale. I'll pick it up again one of these days but it's near the bottom of my backlog (which is over 100 games now).
Oh, and my Trauma Team is still sealed in box. Need to get around ...
The story, the music, and even the combat was awesome for me. Sure the graphics were sub-par, but I can't imagine playing the game any other way.
I really, really hate to agree with you but I do. I love most of Platinum's work, but not this one. Compared to Bayonetta, which was absolutely stunning, Vanquish was very boring. And it had a friggin cliffhanger ending to boot!
The worst problem with Nier for me is that I regret not spending more money on it. Gamestop has (had?) it for $15 used, $17 new and I played it to death. I feel like it deserved more of my money, ah well.
Such a phenomenal game. Even if nothing else in the game appeals to you (the one reading this post), the music is absolutely some of the best in this generation. As is the plot.
Apparently it's still being turned into a franchise. Let's hope it ...

Not always. I'd call out some questionable examples, but I'll just drop the name Necrid and call it a day.
D-Pad + touchpad made shooters easy. Don't see why that wouldn't be the case here.
I'm buying ilomilo shortly, loved the trial. At least the rest of the month is ho-hum.
But, XBLA won't be so nice on my wallet next month, with BG&E and Torchlight getting my money.
I can beat that. I have 40 games in my Steam library, and I've played... 10 of them. That's not beat, but simply played. I even have all the X-Com games and Deus Ex in preparation for their reboots, but haven't touched them. Also have King's Bounty and Amnesia after hearing enough praise for them.
I think my backlog of games has breached 100 at this point. And now LBP2, Ghost Trick, and MvC3 are rapidly approaching. *sigh*
I've had Torchlight sitting in my steam library for over a year now, and I haven't played it once (Except the demo).
Now, it's getting an XBLA release. Figures. I'll probably still pick it up again, along with BG&E HD.
For the love of God, read this and re-evaluate your statement.

"Whoa Price, how'd you get in jail?"
"Nevermind that, we can make another game just to explain that and make even more cash!"
Yeah seriously. Here's what's going on in the higher-up's heads:
"Hey Infinity Ward. Remember that generic, one-dimensional character that looked like he had a skull on his face that everyone loved from Modern Warfare 2? Yeah. Give him his own game, so we can make even more money. And make sure you put "Call of Duty" and "Modern Warfare" in the title, we gotta make sure it has brand recognizability."
So you made a pointless comment on this article.
Great.
Thanks for wasting all of our time.
It doesn't release in Japan for another week guys. Of course a Japanese magazine is just now reviewing it.
I feel like they are disagreeing with his comment because he's implying that the original is a poor game.

True enough, but I happen to LOVE Chrono Cross. I have difficulty placing Trigger higher than it in terms of preference, they are very, very close in my eyes. If you meant a real sequel meaning a sequel that actually follows it, there are more than enough nods to Trigger present in the game.
As for BG&E, they are re-releasing it over Arcade next year in HD. If it goes well we may see a sequel.
Hot damn these graphics look awesome. Can't wait to play through No More Heroes again!

I'm not buying the game either way, I've never been a fan of the series, but at the same time I've been halfway following the news regarding it and I can see why people would be upset. They are even still using the old model for MvC3, it just seems like bad advertising to change it but not stick to it.
In terms of the original trailer, I loved the music. But not a whole lot else, I can't say.
I can't believe it's actually getting a sequel. I loved Nier and beat it faster than I beat most games (and I did it 4 times to boot!), I cannot fathom why critics hated on it so much. Thanks to RPGfan for giving it scores it deserved.
If Nier can get a sequel there is hope for just about any franchise.
Soul Calibur and Mortal Kombat are a bit slow paced. Tekken, Street Fighter, or one of Capcom's versus would be the idea places, though that won't ever happen.
