They scored sword/shield even higher from memory. This is a franchise for which people have very strong childhood memories from back when the games were good.
Ultimately though this is just a continuation of what has been understood for many many years now, which is that numerical scores are arbitrary and not useful in gauging whether a game is worthwhile
Yeah I don’t get the bloat argument - just stick to the main quest and don’t play the bloat!
Not just that, but this new version of Galaxy1 is supposedly better than the 3D All-Stars version.
Ultimately though it’s a very Nintendo thing to do and it shouldn’t have come as a surprise.
i liked 2018 but haven't bothered with Ragnarok yet, mainly because I got burnt out on cinematic games
Rumour is that they actually are removing the modern day parts, which would be a great move
Resting implies laziness. They still make some banger new games. Their laziness shows more so when it comes to preservation of their old stuff
VII was a cultural touchstone, VIII was not
Yeah, a few red flags at the moment - UE5, performance mode not hitting 60fps, resolution as low as 720p, AUD$130, no material gameplay changes. I can wait until it’s fixed and cheaper
The MGS games were a product of their time - I loved them on PS2 but I no longer have the desire to watch extremely long cutscenes between gameplay, especially when I already know the story. Even MGSV had started moving away from that approach to game design.
The fact that this appears to be a PS2 game with PS5 graphics makes me skeptical, especially when it somehow costs more than Death Stranding 2. And if there’s UE5 stutter then it’s a hard pass.
I don...
The game will be highly cpu bound with probably more complex and ambitious simulations than any other game before it. 60fps is highly unlikely for it until next gen
I’m curious to see if this franchise has benefited from Zampella’s involvement, particularly from a campaign perspective
I initially thought TotK was an objective improvement but in hindsight they're both good for different reasons, both with relative pros and cons. Overall I'd probaly agree BotW is the better more focused experience, though i've clocked more hours in TotK
You're welcome guys, they must have found out I just bought it on Steam thinking a remaster would never come
This seems to be referring to updates to the current steam version. If a remake does get announced it will absolutely be sold separately
I might never get around to trying the DS games but good on him for doing what he wants, trying new things, taking risks etc
Being a pirate is fun
Can’t you just skip the mini games though?
Name a better controller
Yeah plus I feel too old to be wanting a modern collection to display, and I don’t need more plastic doodads to worry about. My retro collection at least has charm since snes/64 boxart used to look really cool
You are spot on in regard to the issue of art. I used to like the idea of remakes but have since soured on them. Historical games, if recognised as art, are best appreciated for what they achieved at the time of release with the technology available at that time (e.g. Super Mario 64).
Remakes that are just graphical updates while leaving the same old gameplay do have a jarring feel about them (e.g. Demon's Souls, MGS Delta).
The most anoying remakes are the ones that mes...
