If £50 is too much to spend then fine, go by other peoples opinions if you trust them. I'm not saying they are flat out wrong, just my opinion matters far more to me.
I can spend twice that amount on a standard night out...which normally lasts only a few hours - thank god their getting less frequent with age... :)
If you enjoyed The last of us i'm surprised you didn't like the Uncharted series.
I understand the value of game reviews (both positive and negative) but the only opinion I truly value is my own as everybody's likes and dislikes in gaming are different.
For instance I dislike GTA, I understand I am probably in the minority on this one and that's fine by me - I'm sure others have a great time playing it. I certainly wouldn't question somebody's IQ just because they enjoy a game I do not.
I enjoyed The Order, it had its flaws but what game doesn't nowadays?

I did the same with PS3, bought one about 4 years after release so had a huge catalogue of games to catch up on - which i didn't have time to complete... Before then it was PC/Nintendo only, i must be one of the very few people who have never owned an Xbox!

Dont forget Warthunder, thats been PC/PS4 cross play since it was released on PS4. Hopefully be PSVR compatible at some point too.

I've been gaming for a similar length of time to you and have never been more ashamed to read what some of my fellow gamers have to say.
I guess some of the hostility is down to kids just being kids or hormonal teenagers who fancy an argument - why they dont just listen to Nirvana at an unhealthy volume instead is beyond me :) It worked for me!

Hang on - to enjoy Fallout you have to play it on PC because those playing it on console are having a "horrid" time...interesting.
I can only assume those playing it on a mid range PC that outputs similar res/fps as consoles are also having the same "horrid" experience you seem to know so much about.

We cannot say one platform is better than another as they both have their merits, we choose the platform that meets our own requirements.
I wont rule out building another gaming rig in the future but for now the PS4 is all I play on and i'm loving it.
Edit: Pretty stupid article anyway, the author basically thinks that console gamers just want to play Pokemon or Sing star - what a Muppet!

Not once have i ever sat in front of my PS4 and thought is this all it has to offer, probably because it obviously does until game development for the platform ceases.
Im guessing the "journalist" who wrote this article is of the younger gaming generation who thinks the world revolves around his personal needs and expectations.

The Megadrive/Genesis had more powerful Hardware than the SNES if i remember correctly - SNES was still a far better console though...imo.
I didnt misunderstand anything. You stated The Order's sales numbers must have been due to ill-educated gamers and the only reviews that mattered were the bad ones.
Oh and to answer your question about how your meant to have an opinion before shelling out £50 - try renting the game you fool!
