I felt so plagued by that question that I even emailed him afterwards to let him know I'm *not* petitioning devs to include female options for all game characters ;). I just think it's an interesting topic.
This IndieMonth project has definitely shown me that while there are plenty of gamers like me, who see a game as more than a one-size aesthetic fits all, there are plenty of gamers that really need for a game to have a certain "look". Without it, they just can't get into even considering the gameplay. It's hard for me to understand, but it's very real for them, and I'm trying!

Yeah...It's so dependent on where you live. Which I think is something Jason realized, too, with the dog problem.
When I was living in New Orleans, crime was a constant consideration - I dare say especially as a young woman living alone. These days, living somewhere else, it's world's away from that level of crime - where everyone has been a victim of crime at some point.
