Honestly, a silly question to ask. 360 dominate? .. no. ps3 dominate .. no. Wii wipe the floor with both of them? .. hate to say it, but that has a better chance of happening than the other two possibilities.

I do believe, however, that this is the year where the 3 systems as a cohesive unit driving the industry (hopefully) won't have a lagging horse for the holiday season (*read - all 3 do well).

The 360 is cheaper and not breaking every 5 minutes; the ps3 isn't...

Well, mr. earthbounding, obviously gamespot is not going to please everybody with their choice for the greatest all time hero, but you are missing the biggest part of what makes the character of gordon freeman so incredible (to most everybody but yourself, apparently).

Yes, he's the personality of a shoe; he's not all to chatty, I for one believe him to be without a mouth perhaps, either way, the character you play in the half-life titles is so unique (originally) that is re-de...

Not a fan of lists usually, regardless of the topic; but you've put together a pretty solid, universally agreeable list here.

Postal 3 will change lives, if it is half as good (or bad, depending on one's point of view) as the first 2.. i would imagine we are all in for a politically incorrect, racist like no other, violent for the sake of... well violence - romp through a generally plot-less game.. like a fine wine postal only gets better with age.. hah.

*and on ...

Meh, GTA was, and will remain one of the premier flagship titles in gaming history; I'm speaking not of any particular entry in the series, rather the series as a whole.

That being said, gta has - been since been since been - milked dry and the concept - drilled face first into the ground. Not hating, just stating the obviousness of the series repetitive nature, no matter how shiny the new coat of paint is with gta4. (Yes, i realize if a franchise makes money by the boat load...

I agree with the guy up top a bit.. The good ole' glory days of RARE releasing one top notch title (one after another ... after another) seemed to deflate at an alarming rate once the company came under the wing of Microsoft. They made old-school fans breathe a sigh of relief in the new gen with Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero, and then... what? Viva Pinata? Now, now a good game in it's own right, it just wasn't aimed towards the same crowd as a lot of their other games. (personal opinion)

I can't disagree with you on that angle; if i may interject a viewpoint..

In terms of the almighty and revolutionary: I'm sure you can agree Quake 1 was amazing for it's time, however when quake 2 came out it did everything the original did, just better.

Part of me wants to apply this concept to the level of similarities (and differences) in half-life 1 & 2.

Simply put, FPS games are the way they are now BECUASE of HL1. However, FPS' improve...

-- HOWEVER

You sir, seem to have produced here a very, VERY well produced, thoroughly imagined and (close-as-one-man-can-get-it) universally agreeable list; not a vague top-ten (8) list across all genres but narrowed down genre-by-genre. (!)

*Void of bias of fanboyish doucher'otteries (too-shay and thank you)

Kudos to you my friend for making all other lists (on topic) lo...

Well, i mean, .. Duh. haha.

Of course it is bud, it has been and always will be.

But this is just LAZY.. But potentially brilliant. Just like that lady in 94' who sued McDonald's after she burned herself with some coffee becuase nobody told her it was hot!? If i remember correctly, 6 million & some change was awarded to her..

What a world... full of ass-hats.

i was thinking of suing pepsi. Opened me up a can just the other day; only to find coke... Which was diet. ...and flat.

With that outta the way, like the guy up top said, i guess i will have to agree that it is rather commendable to actually go through with such an asinine concept and expect people to take a bite out of such a bullsh*t sandwich.

I once bought me one them Swiffer sweepers for my kitchen floor, but nowhere was it mentioned ANYWHERE that i neede...

I, like most of you with half a brain and fingers to type with, always chuckle a bit at these UBER TOP TEN GAMES EVER MADE lists because i believe them to be, for lack of a better word, impractical.

On what basis does one man, or even a legally trademarked gaming publication apply to produce a list of this nature. The problem with these lists' I always had believed was the fact that they are numbered. Think of it as a variation of "one man's trash, another dude's treasure...

Well luckily for you good sir, I just so happen to be from the future..
-- A bright and glorious future where I got to play this game and in short; i wish i had three hands.. Two with which to hold the controller, and another hand to touch myself with. Giggiddy.

Heh. In all seriousness though, the gameplay in this particular video looks fantastic. I see a lot of people referencing the gears train sequences in defense of the 360, which i can understand, to an extent. The ...

Admittedly, i would rather spank my own ham to a video of my grandparents having role playing sex as Pikachu and ... Luigi?

Ok, that being said I can now manage to voice my opinion that I am sitting here looking at the pictures in awe, literally inches from a coma caused by a potentially life-threatening dose of awesome. The polish graphically on this title will certainly be nothing short of spectacular.

that looks like it was fun.

By a show of hands, (now don't be shy, pansies) how many of you have wanted to take your 360 out back and "ole'yeller / office space" the piss out of it.

Me personally am on my 3rd 360 ... My 2nd 360 (after it RROD'd, grew fists, and then repeatedly punched me in my sack over and over) was filled with gasoline and then shot at with roman candles. There is not a phrase in the english language to properly portray the retaliato...

Man, I want to agree with you on "Dare I say that 2009 be Year of the Serious'ness?" because in a perfect world (in which we are not) if gaming went the direction of " AWESOMELY INSANE / INSANELY AWESOME -- for no reason at all -- " then I say Sam needs to be the ruler of the free world.

Serious sam is so ruthlessly old-school in terms of how it plays; and it was fun for the sake of having fun. What most people don't know is that original serious sam was a ...

Let me ask you a hypothetical..

Let's say you own your business with a product that sells like fritters at a fat farm, and every year you (sometimes.. mildy) improve the quality of said product and people go crazy for it every time, they can't seem to get enough of it. Your product has now become a brand name... a name that when any average JOE with a subscription to "CONSUMER WEEKLY" will rush out and purchase. Why? Quality in a name.

Ok, if you haven...

I am amazed at the speed this article was released, read, and then insta-flamed by "side-choosing for side-choosing's sake" group of nutless, sacks'o'dangling fanboys.

Rather than boast about the ps3's lineup, (because obviously you feel threatened by something) why not come to terms with the fact that Alan Wake is more or less going to be a spectacular game made by a determined and (very) talented dev team.

Let's say you are more a fan of the ps3 : (...

Kingpin used to be the coolest game to play as a 14 pre-pubescent angry middle schooler because you could blast hookers away with shotguns, do drugs, not to mention the VERY generous use of the f-bomb (a first in the industry, I believe... a Pioneer of sorts..hah) Not to mention anybody who played games at that time would remember that was when 3d accelerators were just starting to become a necessary thing for pc gaming. Now I am not stating this with any amount of certainty whatsoever.. But my guess would be that Gears' (suprisingly) low budget cost was a result of the developing company not having to pay royalties or a licensing fee (which is expensive.. very) for a proprietary game engine, because epic themselves have been making the unreal engine for he better party of ten years now..

As a result of this.. I would imagine it's cheaper to produce by at least SOMEthing. Not to mention; I woul...
