The negative PR from cancelling another game would be worse. MS cannot afford to not release this game.

That would be awesome. Then we will be able say stuff like "give MS credit for sticking by a game" like we did AFTER The Last Guardian was released and it turned out to be a great game.
Is anyone really expecting any major announcements before next year's E3? They just released Spider-man. Huge promotions for RDR2 incoming. Days Gone beginning next year following with TLOU2, Death Stranding, Ghosts....come on, the pipeline is pretty damn full.

Vita has a massive backlog of games. If you have never owned one then you could justify the purchase just by the number of games it has had in the past, regardless of cross buy. That is if you want a handheld console.
