Well, I am fudging the numbers a bit.
Launch PS3 broke after 5 years.
Repaired launch PS3 broke after 4 weeks.
Repaired launch PS3 broke after 2 weeks.
New slim PS3 broke after 2 days.
Currently, I'm on my 4th PS3, but that's only because I've got two of 'em.
Thing is, though, six years is not a very long time. At all.
It's taken more than a decade to get decent PS2 emulation; odds ...
Well, I've already had 4 PS3s die on me, so I don't have much confidence in the longevity of Sony hardware.
That I'm forced to play PS2 games by running .isos off a PC doesn't help.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PLAYSTATION VITA
Sony Exec #1: The Vita isn't selling very well. Consumers seem to be complaining about a lack of games. What should we do?
Sony Exec #2: We can give them some PSP games to play on their Vitas.
...Months Later....

I wonder if Sony will see a steep decline in PSN sales now that we know none of them will be playable on the PS4.
I, for one, probably would have grabbed a PSN copy of Rising last month. But now? I can't even muster the will to spend that small pittance they doled out into our PSN wallets right before the PS4 announcement.
I really don't see how it's a terrible idea for Sony.
They're competing against Xbox Live. Now, tell me, which is the better value: paying X amount of money for the privelege of using your own internet connection; or paying the same amount of money for an online service that let's you indefinitely rent a massive number of titles?
From a consumer-standpoint, it's a kick in the face for those of us who have been purchasing digital content. W...
...I'd like to see a sequel that actual covers the revolutionary war.
I mean, AC3 hyped up all the big battles and the revolutionary war setting... but all we really got to see was one big battle, and two very small ones from the very beginning of the war. Huge let-down.
No. The Vita's fate lies solely in the hands of its library.
If Sony wants to help it in the long-term, focus on bringing over some Japanese titles; encourage AAA development AND indy development. Encourage developers to add PSP games to the PSN store--Final Fantasies, Star Oceans, etc.
If Sony wants to help it in the short term, how about timed-exclusive PS1 classics? Suikoden II would be nice.
Wow. It's always nice when a bullshit review is courteous enough to inform you that it's full of bullshit with the first sentence.
"Casual Mode" doesn't effect a damn thing. It just starts you out with some items and automatically reloads the game for you when you die.
Well, yeah. Obviously, considering how much they're pushing streaming in the absence of any form of b/c.
I imagine they'll probably let PS+ users stream the PSN games they've already purchased for free; and use a separate subscription model (outside of PS+) for users to stream games they have not purchased. Though PS+ would likely offer a discount.
From a consumer's perspective, I really don't like what Sony is doing at all. But from a bus...
I agree.
Of course, I also really liked the first Lords of Shadow game... which I have yet to finish. I should probably get on that.
Better late than never?
Here's hoping. The 3DS could really use a good, conventional RPG.
After Witcher 2, my expectations for the third game aren't very high at all.
But... how is the Witcher at all relevant to a discussion of Nintendo RPGs?
You should start working on getting one.
Especially if you're a fan of the prior games. I picked up a used copy of EO3 last weekend, and blasted through the first two stratums before EO4 came out... but ended up putting just as much time into the EO4 demo.
IV is just so much more polished and streamlined.
I really can't wait to see what they do with EO5.
As a fan of the PS2, I'm thinking it sounds bad.
It was bad enough that Sony made us re-buy digital copies of PS2 games on the PS3 instead of bother with software emulation; it's so much worse with the PS4 where they want us to re-buy the digital copies--or, worse, pay them money to stream digital content we already own.

I bought a Vita because it was a solid machine with the capacity to replace my PSP--I could play all of those old PS1 and PSP games on it.
It was great.
What the Vita needs to "revive" is simply more games. That's it.
I don't think the PS4 will have any impact on the Vita, period. The fact that the PS4 is going in the opposite direction of the Vita (no b/c, no compatability with PSN content, etc.) means, for example, that I ...
I believe EU releases take longer in general because games A) have to make their way through the bureaucracies of more nations, and because the games themselves have to be translated in more languages.
In North America, for example, games, there's only the United States and Canada; English is the only language that games need to be translated in. Whearas in Europe, you've got a much more complicated landscape.
I think part of that is we had a stretch of years... like four or five or six... that were just terrible, where we only had 2 or 3 good games across every platform that was genuinely good.
But the past three or four years have been fantastic for everyone.
Well, except the Wii U and the dead consoles. Of course, even the NDS got some love this year.
Yeah, I don't think Nintendo is going to release a redesign of the 3DS any time soon.
I mean, other than the loose back plate, the 3DS XL is gaming perfection.
My guess is it'll be a special Monster Hunter event, at best.
I hope the game plays well, considering it's one of only two AAA-level Vita titles for 2013.
*sigh*
I mean, hell, Sony. At the very least, give us Suikoden 2.
