Stop being a fanboy, please.
Who cares when it came out. I prefer somebody to savor a game in the same way that someone who spent their hard earned dollars on it would. THEN you are qualified to give your opinion about it.
Anyway, I bought this game a month ago when it was on sale for 20 bucks at Radioshack. A week or so ago it was on sale for 10 at Best Buy, but whatever. I've got it. But I haven't played it yet because I figure maybe I'll play the original first (never did play it, but played the demo...
@ NaiNaiNai:
The SixAxis has been well-implemented in many games. To follow the format of the article, the 'promise' of SixAxis was that it would allow developers to implement motion controls to complement standard controls. Did it deliver on this promise?
Yes, yes it did.
Examples:
GTA IV - flick the controller to reload
PixelJunk Eden - shake the controller to charge up
PAIN - shake the controller to charge up ("super ooch&qu...
I'm glad to see DC Universe Online on this list. That game is going to be awesome. I love the DC Universe and I love Jim Lee, and Sony Online Entertainment has a great pedigree in the MMO genre, so I'm very excited for it.
I'm surprised Star Ocean IV is not on the list, though.
It's called the Playstation for a reason. It's a station where you play things.
Hint: games are not the only media that people play.
Love the new direction of companies selling a product to two distinct groups of people, and allowing one of them to give them more money to expand that product, and not allowing the same thing to another?
It's not all that different than if I own a vacuum cleaner company, and I sell my vacuum cleaner to all people, but I'll only sell the extra attachments to white people. If you're not a white person, you're out of luck, you don't even get the option to GIVE ME MORE MONEY for th...
I own the 360 version of this game, and I DO think it's lame that it isn't on the PS3. This kind of payola is just bad for the industry, and it's bad for customer relations. They sell this game to people who own PS3's, and it isn't right that just because you bought one version of the game as opposed to another you're not allowed the option of experiencing all that they have to offer. They should be allowing PS3 owners the option to GIVE THEM MORE MONEY, for God's sake.
@v1c1ous
You'd do well to compare the PS2 to the 360 Core/Arcade , not the Pro. You'll notice that the Core started at 299 (same as PS2), and now it's at that 199 price that was the sweet spot for the PS2. So it's NOT now at the PS2's introductory price. The comparable base model (now known as the Arcade unit) is 199, the price of the PS2 after its major reduction, the point at which its sales started to take off like a rocket.
But the 360 didn't take off like the...
360 achievements on this game are a complete chore. So annoying. I'd never even DREAM of attempting to do that crap again just so I could get some PS3 trophies.
I've been playing through this on 360.
It's got a good battle system and great graphics, and the story is intriguing, but some of the characters are kind of unappealing to me. Most of the characters are good, though. Really, my problem with the game is that after a while you start to feel like it's all following the same structured playlist on repeat. Like, you'll go to a town and separate from your party, then you talk to everyone individually and reform, then you go to the n...
That's the thing with Metacritic. Most critics don't have any sense of timelessness. I mean, a game like Motorstorm for the PS3 is a classic example of this. It came out a couple of years ago and has a higher Metacritic average than Motorstorm 2, which just came out a couple months ago. Nobody is going to argue over which is better. It's a 100% fact that Motorstorm 2 is better. Better graphics, better controls, better vehicle selection, better & more courses, better presentation, be...
This is one of the worst articles I've ever seen approved here.
I knew something was fishy when he started naming various games that "other console owners" would want ported out of some kind of jealousy. I figured Metal Gear Solid 4 would be an obvious one, but, nope, he only mentions Xbox games that PS3 owners would want. That's minor clue number one.
I am too exhausted to even get into it. But, seriously, his entire reasoning basically boils down to, &...
This review is garbage. If MetaCritic or GameRankings put Maxim's reviews into the averages, then I'm going to start writing letters. Because, seriously, where is this magazine's credibility to review games? They have none.
The entire review is ONE SENTENCE long! That isn't a review, it's a back-of-the-box quote. The entire reason for removing one and a half stars is that it's "not the best dancer." Why isn't it the best dancer? What's wrong with its dancing? G...
Killzone 2 is not genre-defining? See, he makes this blanket statement, and it seems apparent to me that he hasn't even played the full game yet. Why is so certain it isn't genre-defining, then?
Also, doesn't anybody realize that genre-defining is not the same as genre re-defining? Killzone 2 very much looks to be genre-defining, meaning that it will become the de facto, go to example of a game that does everything right in the FPS genre. It will not redefine the genre, thoug...
At what point can it no longer be called the NEW Xbox experience?
Jaffe is weird. But he makes good games.
Stupid websites are stupid.
None of these games are over-rated. They're all great.
System failures.
The PS3 has never had a system failure at a public demonstration. The 360 has had a few of those unfortunate occurrences. And the 360 has had numerous other hardware reliability issues.
Not only that, but the PS3 has sold very reliably for an expensive machine. No console in history at the price levels that the PS3 has been have EVER come close to this level of success. The PS3 has even outsold, in its first 2 years, the quantity of sales that t...
I used to play Neutral Flag all the time in Halo 2. Somehow I didn't even notice that it's not part of Halo 3. Weird. I guess I sort of became more into deathmatch than objective-based matches when Halo 3 came out, because of the map layouts. I still vastly prefer Halo 2 map layouts. I wish they'd do like Epic did for Gears 2 and release the classic maps. I want all the Halo 2 maps as DLC for Halo 3. That'd get me ridiculously addicted to H3 again.
This kind of talk shouldn't even be allowed in the open zone.
A quick perusal of Mavole's account shows nothing but stupid PS3 hate speech.
