Yeah, it's an OPEN file format. Both Sony and Microsoft use Java- do you see (many) articles about how Sun is playing them both? They "created" it, sure, but from there it's open-source.
zOMG- Both sony and Microsoft use Macs for graphical work too! We should post an article about that!
And I bet Microsoft employees drive Japanese cars work! And that Sony execs wear Levis! WHAT A WORLD!!!
Does no one here actually READ the article described before posting? "The request contains an illegal URL." <-Link no workie.
Before you post, claiming that you know what you're talking about, get educated:
-PS3's Cell is technically superior... when it comes to "straight" mathematical computations. There have always been questions about how it will work for games. (see also: debates on Intel versus AMD processors- same thing)
"The request contains an illegal URL."
How many of you actually read the article?
lollerskates.
I have no idea what I'm talking about but the above viewpoints offend me, despite me not knowing **** about what I'm trying to be offended about!
Insult!
Verbal Riposte to previous comment!
Insuinuation on your heritage!
Question regarding your sexuality!
MUHAHAHAH! Eat it internet weaklings!
[See how stupid that is? Think on that and take an STFU pill, please.]
Er, you're kind of missing the point. I'm sure there could be an increase, but for the consumer market there's still absolutely no reason 3TB would ever be necessary.
Think about that- 3,000GB of information. It'll take at least a decade for anyone outside of Google-size databases to need this technology.
Looks EXACTLY like an iPod accessory pack down to the smallest detail.
Welp, ^that^ confirms it. This was the last frontier for hardware trying to steal some of iPod's success.
-Rounded pearl design? Check.
-Incredibly simplistic controls? Check.
-Small, sleek, etc? Check.
-Overpriced for what you get? Check. (If the $60 rumors hold out)
zOMG, the obviously CG, pre-rendered demo vid looks better than the product!? NO WAY!
We need to call the industry- if gamers start to realize the difference they might start to get skeptical about CG trailers!!!
Heh. And to note: This game is actually running, live, and can be played. GT:HD... not so much. Meaning again, refer to the above about CG.
...pllleeease let the backgrounds actually be 3d this time! Heh.
Random worrisome bits:
"But what, exactly, is GT HD? [...] it will come in two parts in one box: "[] GT HD Premium will be like a sneak preview of Gran Turismo 5 [] It will be a standalone game with 30 cars and two tracks. There will be another 30 cars and one track which people will be able to download for it."
-So a max possible 60 cars and 3 tracks on this disc... ummm... that's odd.
"GT HD Classic [] will have 770 cars and 51 track...
'Tis kind of silly, isn't it? Ah-well, there's already a 3rd party wireless in stores for GH1 now, I'm sure they'll crank out one for GH2.
By the way- is this article trying to say that selling this game to minors is a PROBLEM!?
I'm a liberally-minded person, but this is a friggen' Zombie game. Not many 8-year-olds are mentally ready to take a chainsaw to a horde of zombies then take pictures of their boobies. Er, you know what I mean.
Forza and GT are bitter enemies, not GT and PRG. They're COMPLETELY different games.
Maybe they meant, I dunno, Ridge Racer and PGR? No, Rodge Racer doesn't use licensed cars. Need for Speed? Nope.
Slam PGR in this comparison all you want, but it's like comparing... I dunno... Forza and Ridge Racer. It's just two different levels of game.
"The system is strictly hands-off at this point, but the newspaper reports that customers were stopping to take a look before heading to the register to purchase Pokemon Diamond & Pearl for the DS."
So the demo station isn't playable, there's only one of them, and they aren't really stopping anyone from running for their DS games (as opposed to, say, a resurgance of PS2 interest)...
Wake us up when they're at least playable.
Even the devs admit they have a lot of work to do graphically... but as said elsewhere, compare Forza(1)'s demo to the actual game- a night and day difference.
The same's probably happening here. Only it already looks great, and the big coat of polish to go on it from here will make it incredible.
"whenever Polyphony Digital want to do something in Gran Turismo, they want to do it perfectly"
-Like the 100% completion glitch in GT2?
-Like the 2D background in photo mode?
-That they've never gotten the "big" manufacturers (Porsche, Lamborghini...)?
-Like the lack of oft-promised features (drag racing)?
-Like how the AI has sucked since GT1 and basically hasn't ever gotten any improvement thus far?
I love Gran T...
Guevara, you also routinely post anti-Xbox and anti-Microsoft articles (at least lately). Not too surprising you haven't bought any retro titles.
I got Geometry Wars as soon as I possibly could, and I've loved it ever since. AMAZING game.
And just think about it- DOOM. With splitscreen. WITH SPLITSCREEN! OMG!!! Heh.
If there was fuss over Assassin's Creed BEFORE this, it'll be zealous fervor now. GOOD GOD that was a cool demo. The crowd physics... environmental interaction... holy cow.
This X06 destroyed! Halo Wars, Assassin's Creed, DOOM and MK3 on Live Arcade, the HD-DVD and Peter Jackson and...
Wow. Just wow.
Lots.
1)The guy who posted this is an anti-Microsoft ass (if you can't tell by the article), so anything anti-Microsoft instantly has to do with 360.
2)He still thinks this was supposed to play Xbox 360 games. Which it never was, and that whole thing was a load of rumor, but let's not think of that.
Just to note: THE ZUNE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THE iPOD, ONLY IT HAS A LARGER SCREEN! If you're complaining about the design, you're basically saying iPod sucks too, becaus...
Sony claimed the Assassin's Creed demo was "real-time" and running "real hardware", but since that moment, persistent rumors have existed that the demo was really running on an Xbox 360, contrary to rumors that 360 couldn't even run it.
Now, we have proof 360 could indeed have done it, so now the question is still if it did.
In case anyone out there is totally deficient at patterns, ALL Xbox 360 games (including arcade titles) have exactly 1,000 possible points.
It's literally a requirement by Microsoft for the game to be released. It has to be 1,000- no more, no less. There might appear to be less because some are secret, but they're there somewhere.
