360 just can't lose in Japan. Itagaki is working on Ninja Gaiden 2, Capcom has everything from Lost Planet to Street Fighter. There's Blue Dragon and Lost Oddyssey, Dynasty Warriors, Enchanted Arms...
There's price drops for the Japanese market, special bundles, a seperate section of the Live servic...
Call of Duty 2 and PGR 3 don't vary? (Not to mention CoD2 turned heads in the industry with its absolutely astounding attach rate)
And games like Geometry Wars on Live weren't different either? (Not to mention the over 50% conversion from demo to purchase that sent those heads rolling down the stairs)
Maybe you meant the lack of innovation, like the freely downloadable demos and videos on Live, or the added content you could download, or the free themes and cars ...

I didn't realize until I saw this, but Sony has been working for some time to convince us that 1080p is the be-all, end-all for HDTV. It's not. Like any other technology, it'll be outdated soon enough.
Ah-well. Shows what you get for thinking you're investing in the future standard for electronics.

C'mon! There's exactly one territory in the entire world that doesn't love Xbox 360- and that's Japan.

If they need 'til Fall 2007, I say let 'em have it. Look back to the development of Forza- the game absolutely blew in early hands-on and demos, but came out as an absolute powerhouse from virtually out of nowhere.
Let these guys take their time and get it right so they don't end up like Gran Turismo 2. (As in: Bug in GT2 where 100% completion is impossible, glitches may cause cars to magically disappear from garage, etc...)
The problem with the strict financial cut comes because Sony's brand strength is so critical to its success. See all the brand polls putting Sony #1 in the world.

Even I'll admit- after seeing Lost Oddyssey, FF1 gameplay doesn't look QUITE so unbelievable. Then again, absolutely nothing on PS3 looks anywhere near this good, so I'll remain skeptical for now. (unless you're believing bits of other games that really ARE just CG)
However, keep in mind that these FF screens show only a handful of characters standing in a 10-foot-square box, whereas Lost Oddyssey has hundreds of characters onscreen at once on a massive battlefield. So does FF ...
Xbox 360 will upscale all games to 1080p. The box (as far as I know) does not ouput native 1080p for games. HD-DVDs, though, will be native 1080p.
And yes, do a perspective check: Maybe 2% consumers own 1080p HDTVs. And in 5 years, that's projected to still be under 10% even optimistically.
1080p basically doesn't matter, no matter what either side wants to think. But hey, it's nice that both consoles have it now. And maybe 360 will even have some native 1080p ga...
