I'm happy with this gen- unlike with the PS2 era I'm not really concerned with 'what's next?'. gaming is an expensive enough habit already without having to upgrade consoles and peripherals every few years to accommodate the latest model. Plus the HD gaming era required me to get a HDTV which effectively added $1500 to the cost of my console. I'd rather see my investment play out a little.
Besides the PS3 and 360 are really hitting their stride only now with truly next-gen stuff ...
@heroprotagonist
'but I honestly cannot believe that some of you think that there is anything about this that couldn't be done on the 360.'
To use the N4G post cliche, as an owner of both consoles, I'm yet to see anything on 360 look this good graphically.
I gotta say, even though GOWIII, or any other big note exclusive for that matter, might be capably done on the 360- it hasn't been yet. It's been over 4 years since the 360 came out and there's not a ...
you can never trust official reviews
The gaming business is just like the movie industry- it's not always the best, most acclaimed movies that do the best at the box office, its the ones with the most marketing and hype behind them- case in point Avatar. Special effects based movie with a threadbare, rehashed plot, but it has huge audiences and legions of rabid fans because they bought into the marketing, the bright lights and gimmick of 3D.
Likewise with games- the truly great games are always 'cult hits' or don't...
Another failing company supporting the CEO that's presided over its demise...
What's new? Boards never see the writing on the wall until its too late.
true that. If you treat any console well it'll work fine. That means keeping it clean, dusting it and around it regularly, not putting anything on top of it, putting in a spot where it can stay cool with plenty of room for the fans to work (ie. not against a wall or in a small compartment of a tv cabinet), not leaving it on when your not using it etc etc.
I've had my 40gig PS3 for over 2 years now. Latest firmware, MW2 aswell, and even upgraded the HDD to a 320gig- never had any ...
Who cares?
The graphical crowning glory still goes to PS3 with the best examples being Killzone 2, Uncharted series and GT5 (of which we've only had demos so far).
Nothing on Xbox- multiplat or exclusive- goes anywhere near those games.
I wonder what total sales are world wide?
I see this game selling 4-5 million in its lifespan.
I wish this kinda uproar was going on about NBA2k10. You want a truly unfinished game try playing that.
your one of the guys who exploits this stuff. its not cheating per se, but its not good either. the only guy who will enjoy that game is the guy with the glitched kit.
balancing in a multiplayer game is key to its enjoyability. the other team has literally no chance of winning when you can do this, so nobody will want to play/
There are people who have spent like days and days playing this online- its only real ubernerds who find and exploit this stuff.
look at the leaderboards. the guys at the top of the PS3 leaderboards, probably the same on 360, are guys like this dude. they find a glitch kit and just do it over and over. their ratio is like 360 to 1, its ridiculous. not to mention their playtime is probably like 9 or 10 days of online time
What a bunk list. The LIVE experience? Chat to 12 year olds I don't even know online? Some countries will arrest you for that, hahaha. Plus you gotta pay to do it.
Cheap? I'm not going to buy a console that claims to be cheap but is full of hidden costs like live (ongoing might I add) and a wifi adaptor- that'd set me back the 200 bucks I save getting a PS3 right there and its still not a bluray player. I should also mention Xbox is the FIAT of electronics, brakes down all the t...
I disagree on KZ2. Its such a tack on.
What about Uncharted: Drake's Fortune? Another tack on that just frustrated people- notice that it was ditched in 'Among Thieves'? GTAIV? Its a totally forgotten feature no devs use it anymore.
Who cares anyway.
Yeah sixaxis is the forgotten feature- and for good reason.
I was just playing KZ2 and those motion control parts are just plain annoying.
I've never experienced Xbox Live. PSN is fine to me, and I don't really talk to stangers online. But I'm tempted to give LIVE a go seeing as everyone raves about it.
They'll probably stick with Blu Ray tech and just expand the capacity. We're always hearing about new types of BluRays that can hold more data.
Digital distribution won't come to the fore until there is a global standard with broadband- which is not into the foreseeable future. RIght now, the reality is only a few countries have the broadband infrastructure and regulatory environment to allow digital distribution to become possible. No company would limit their market reach by o...
PC's can still output better graphics than consoles, but PC gaming is dying. I haven't bought a PC game since Medieval II: Total War-because every 6 months it seemed like my PC was obsolete and I could never run the newest games.
You buy a console for stability. It's a 5-10 year investment- PC hardware gets better all the time, but costs big moula to stay up to date.
I want DLC for MW2- I'm sick of the maps. I share my time between this game and Uncharted 2 at the moment.
I think you'd still be hard pressed to find a shooter as fun as MW is online.
If this was announced when Modern Warfare came out it would have made a bigger difference. But right now, myself, and all of my friends have the PS3 version so its not suddenly going to make me go buy it for Xbox.
I think the strategy of exclusive DLC though still has something going for it- for example Batman: Arkham Asylum on PS3 outdid the 360 version because of DLC. That exclusive DLC also launched with the game- so you could get it as soon as you got the game. The sore poin...
I'm personally a little disappointed.
The PS3 has always been advertised to have Full HD gaming, yet there are like only 2 games that are Full HD native.
