For GT6 they should just make all cars premium quality.
I would much rather have had 500 premium cars in GT5 than 1000 cars where 78% are 'standard'.
However I think people overplay the standard cars. Most look good. There are some average looking ones but they're also average cars nobody would want to buy anyway. The biggest thing is just no interior view, which is the best!
GT6: All cars premium quality, Porsche, dynamic weather across all tracks, ability to upgrade/customise brakes (why is it missing in GT5 when it's in all the other GT games..?), and a simulation damage mode (where you can literally be wiped out of a race with a single hit- if you watch racing, cars don't bump off walls and other cars, they hit something they're gone, end of race), better AI (they don't do a good job of avoiding you in a collision).
The more I've played this game the more I've realised the reviews like IGN could only have played this for a very small amount of time. This game is full of hidden things that become unlocked the later you get through the game.
The AI, the damage etc all improves the more you progress. It makes sense too. You don't want it to be too hard when you first start out, because there's a big learning curve- from being good to becoming great is the hard step.
Textures and near track geometry should be nobody's concern. Who cruises past these at 12kmp/h to check this stuff out anyway?
I must admit, I played a game in the rain for the first time today and was shocked how different it looked to the trailer- it does look like very last gen effects.

PS3 version is often unplayable at times. I don't say this out of being a prima donna and throwing my controller down at the frame rate and lag issues- I say this because 60% of your gaming time is spent getting kicked out of parties with your friends, having your connection interrupted, or just not being able to stay in a game or lobby. It's a joke.
Kotick is the whipping boy for this one, but it was really Treyarch who f'ed it up royally. Modern Warfare 2 was a perfect on both (as in no differences between the games).
Treyarch have just proven they're not on the level that Infinity Ward was with Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2- they're B list mulitplat devs.
I like how they're committed to continually developing the game. My hope is to simply see more premium cars!
I'm not really noticing screen tear, but I'm not far into the game, I've only done the Sunday Cup, FF Cup and Compact Car Cup, and the first two licenses. I just bought my first premium car and spent a lot of time in photo mode.
Does the tearing get worse in the bigger, faster paced events?

GT5 is suffering tall poppy syndrome. A lot of people feel like taking it down a few pegs but it's classic GT and I'm loving it.

WTF? What's with the Hot Pursuit comparisons? That game is nothing like GT5. Have they even played the two games?
Hot Pursuit is Burnout Paradise with real cars instead of made up ones.
GT5 is the 'real driving simulator'. It's like comparing Call of Duty to an RTS game.
