I thought GTAIV was a well crafted sandbox world. I remember spending hours feeling like a tourist in NYC playing that game, just wandering around the distinct neighbourhoods. When I went to NYC last year, it made me appreciate just how accurate a 'caricature' it was of NYC.

I think it may also be that this generation has pretty much come to the status of 'AAA or bust', where the smaller games studios have been pushed to the brink by high development costs, and the level of output from Japan is probably reflective of that.

Well i've never participated in a beta. So what?
The reasons are many, but it's mainly because I don't want my first experience of a game I'm really looking forward to to be a demo or beta released months in advance. The best time with a new game, in my opinion, is those first few hours after you get it and your wowed by the new experience and still figuring out what to do.
Betas are worthwhile, but I just don't do them.
It seems to me many of you didn't understand the thrust of my post. Your point that Macs are not good gaming machines is understood and I totally agree. I'm in no way suggesting Apple are taking hold of home computer gaming- but they are taking hold of PC hardware sales.
My point is that Macs are eating into PC market share, which in turn is affecting PC gaming, because I dare say Macs sell slim to no games. So for every Mac that takes the place of a PC, that's on...

Crysis 2's frame rate was pretty average, and it was super blurry, you could barely see what was going on.

I also thought Mass Effect 2 was way overrated. At its core, the main element of the gameplay- being the combat, down right sucked. It is a really poorly constructed 3rd person shooter with stiff mechanics, repetitive enemies and a glitchy cover system. I couldn't finish it because I couldn't bear the missions.
