@Matts
Why would people buy substandard ports that don't include the content from previous versions? If they want Wii U owners to buy their games then maybe they shouldn't shaft them when they port the games.
No, they didn't. They never once said they wanted the Skyrim audience. Are you getting that from the shitty Edge article? Their 4Gamer interview, as well as the Q&A after the gameplay reveal, said they're putting the fans first.
So...what they've been doing since 2005?
Holy shit. That's really all I can say about this.
Just...holy shit those numbers...
No, my gaming console that I got to specifically play games does not need to evolve beyond playing games.
Pros
-Easy to develop for
-Indie friendly
-Not always online
-Doesn't seem to be blocking used games
-Games are the focus with social media stuff being complementary and not the main dish
-Won't be that infamous $599
-Basic PSN is likely still free, so no paying to play online
Cons
-Likely won't have Backwards compatibility due to not using the CELL anymore, may be remedied with Gakai(?)
-Like...
Good article and I definitely agree that every game doesn't need to appeal to everybody. It's a good thing, in my opinion, to be a game that specializes in a few things and works on fixing its flaws or improving on what people liked in the first place, and not trying to remove or add things simply to try to get more people interested. It's also good to have variety in game choice.
I like how he never actually answered the important questions. A real 'snake oil' salesman, try to make the product sound great while never actually denying the negatives.
Have you even kept up on the aftermath of the conference? That's where a lot of the negativity is coming from. Most of the reveal was disappointment because the focus wasn't on games. The used games, need to be online once every 24 hours, mandatory installs, etc. is what's making people upset.
People aren't being spoiled, they aren't taking anti-consumer tactics.
They used to be tolerable early on. Believe it or not but the 360 actually seemed more game-centric than the PS3 the first 2-4 years. There were exclusives, Xbox Live indie games, Xbox Live Arcade games, Achievements, cross-game party chat, a single online handle/nickname for all your games. They used to be able to say 'Our pluses outweigh our minuses.'
They used to be good for gamers, even though they had their faults.
That's actually correct lol
IIRC they've been using an engine from 2005 that they slightly improve upon with each release.
I like how every time bad shit goes down there's people saying 'No, this is totally fine' or 'This is a good thing, guys!' Their focus during the 360's early years was gaming. Now it seems to be an afterthought, or at least has taken a backseat to 'more important' things like TV. It isn't like I have, oh I don't know, a TV for that kind of thing and that people buy a gaming console for the games.
It's not competing with anything right now. Holy shit was that reveal a disappointment, and the info found out afterwards only made things worse. Microsoft has dug them into a hole deeper than the Nintendo haters thought Nintendo was in.
>That's funny (read:Sad) because the new generation starts with the consoles, whether pc gamers want to believe that or not.
That's true.
>The fact is, PC games will only be as impressive as the console version they were (likely) ported from.
That's not. If you took the console version of a game and put it side-by-side with the PC version, the Pc version is almost always better, be it something simple like FPS, to something like resolution an...
It seems like sometimes I'm the only one that doesn't care about my protagonist's gender. I know it isn't true but it certainly seems like it with how much focus on a character's gender, and not the character itself, journalists seem have.
Do you think they only sell in the US? Really?
People are stupid, not just Americans.
There's a difference between 'not being able to play that specific game because you lent it to a friend' and 'not being able to play any games because your friend has to use your account to play the game you lent him'.
Edit in response to edit: It's obvious the reason you need to install is because 'we needed a way to curb used games and get more money', not 'we made the games playable without the discs to please the fans, then we came up ...
EA is just trying to piss off everybody it seems.
To be fair, that is coming from Xbox Support's twitter while the fee 'rumor' came from an actual interview.
"Yo dudes, check out dis gamer gurrrlll she plays SKYRIM!"
Nobody really cares. She's a girl who plays video games. Woop-dee-do, no need to focus on the fact that she's a chick. Where's my "Guy gamer, don't hit on me silly girls!" Monthly magazine where I wear a crop-top, short shorts and pose with a controller in my mouth, which must not taste very good, to show that I'm a gamer to the big girls? Nobody would care, they'd go "...
