Exclusives differentiate one console from the next. They do matter and I don't see how a rational person could or would debate other wise.
Say the next 3 consoles all release the same year and weeks to months apart. They have similar specs and offer nearly the same experience. What would be your deciding factor for which one to choose out of the gate?

NeckBreak I have the platinum trophy. I saw all the endings and that is why I said I "hope" there is a 3rd. It all depends on creative writing. There always could be another Heavenly Sword, God of War and Infamous if you have creative writers.
I'm sure some would find fault with the curve ball it would take to make it happen but I enjoyed all the titles I mentioned above so much that I wouldn't care how they spun it as long as I got to play another iteration...
mendicant I'm not sure I follow your logic at all. Wouldn't you rather have several good to great exclusive with 1 or 2 blockbusters thrown in a year as opposed to 2 or 3 exclusives (geared towards their mainstream audience) for the entire year? I know I would.

Got my platinum a week ago and I'm still playing the game. Definitely one of my favorite new IP's this generation. I just hope there is a 3rd.
Trends Im most annoyed with this generation is DLC (milking this gen is out of control) and watering down games to make them more appealing to the masses, AKA mainstream and casual gamers. Make new IP's for them and leave the more complex games.... well more complex.
Don't sissify my tried and true franchises. Leave them alone.
I don't know where you get "anyone" wanting more Kinect support from "any" dev. What we (core gamers) want is exclusives for the core 360 audience. You know, non Kinect gamers.
If anything I would be extremely interested in a new exclusive game from Epic for the 360's mainstream, non casual, consumer. That is where MS is sorely lacking now.
Piracy has been out of control for years. I never pirated anything and I have been gaming since it's inception. I did mod the original PS and my Saturn but only to unlock the region because I was big into import games during that generation. I owned a PS and the white Saturn (damn sorry I sold it now) from Japan but I use to take my systems on the road back then and it was easier to take one of each instead of two of each.

Hardware doesn't matter of you don't have enough companies creating games you can't get any where else. That is what differentiates one console from another.
MS needs studios or partnerships with some top devs for their next console or what is the purpose for building a new one?
And people give Capcom a hard time for SSFIV and now SSFIVAE. At least they were discounted, added some serious balancing, tweaks, options, modes, new characters and background, <- which is essentially all these add ons for COD are "Maps / backgrounds". That is milking to the extreme. So now the that are fans of this series are $120+ dollars in and soon to follow will be Activisions pay for online service.
DLC and is black eye to this industry.
Single player Uncharted usually has a much better story than Gears. Multiplayer they are both decent. Graphically Uncharted is a step ahead.

Maybe exclusives are next to non existence for MS but Sony (especially) and Nintendo don't only prove this article wrong on so many levels but flat out horse shit as well. Just look at how many exclusive games were "already" released in 2011 for the PS3. Despite it's "minor" flaws this is far and away my favorite game of 2011 up until this point in time. There are a couple games on my radar that might topple it. Uncharted 3 being one of those games.
I scored platinum last night in Infamous 2 and I still went back and played it some today. Personally I cant get enough of this game.

No Jocosta what I said is reality. Deal with it. I have friends and family that work for major retailers and I know for a fact they count replacement warranties as sales. They are considered systems sold and there have been millions (I'm being modest) of failures.
Most of my friends have system replacement warranties with retailers and didn't rely on MS repair/refurb center.

SSX was a surprise sleeper hit for me when the PS2 launched. I remember camping out at Best Buy over night when it released and me and my friends couldn't think of a 3rd game to get. 1 of us picked up SSX and by days end we all went back to the store and picked up a copy and played it non stop for weeks.
I hope this new iteration recaptures the magic of the original.
1 trophy away from platinum and I rarely go for platinum. This game is just so freaking good I cant stop playing it so I figured I would hunt down the elusive trophy while I am at it. Easily my top 3 favorite new IP this generation. I just hope they make an Infamous 3.
I give Infamous 2 an 11 out of 10.

If you take hardware failure rate, rumors that MS were counting refurbs and units sold, full warranty replacement (stores that swap out broken units for brand new ones, which count those units and sold) and people like me that have purchased multiple 360 units (I purchased 360 8 myself and all gamers are know have purchased no less than 2)? The gap doesn't exist any more and hasn't for quite some time.
^That is the reality of it.
