I understand people want something different but there is a reason why the CoD franchise is what is today. The wars and conflicts it is based on are instantly relateable and the Hollywood style action squences allow the player to act out his own war movie, either from the past, or straight off the headlines.
Take this real world element away and replace it with lasers and robots and you won't have a CoD game anymore....
I agree completely. Games make for extremely crappy live action movies. CGI is the way to go.
This completely and utterly untrue. You can have the best aim in the world and a level 0 will get destroyed by a level 5 everytime in a meeting engagement. Higher level players have less recoil allowing them to hose you down full auto and cheap headshots. They can also run faster, reload faster, and CQC with brutal efficiency.
MGO is all about the levels not skills.
Its lame to bring sale numbers into a rational discussion. Myst had amazing sale numbers and the Sims will probably move units until the end of time but if you're going to compare the merits of one game vs another then stick to the subject.

As much as I enjoy MGO, I still think CoD 4 is a better experience overall. MGO favor level grinders too much giving them a huge advantage much over real gamers with skills.
Any new CoD 4 players with enough skills and FPS experience can jump in and compete with a lvl 55 player. Guns and attachments can be picked up the game's best perks can be had in a few games.

I always buy 360 games on the PC, even if I own them already. For one, they look A LOT better, perform better, and even more importantly, play better.
But the number one reason why they're better on the PC is the price. You can buy Gears of War for $15 on ebay, thats not much more than a Live DLC.
Overall if you haven't played Gears of War in true 1080p with 4X AA at 60 FPS then you haven't played Gears of War period. Its as if the console version is missing half...

I've played Gears of War on the PC at true 1080p and 4X AA so I know how good it looks. The PC version totally destroy Gears of War 2. Its details and high texture resolutions just walk all over the 360's latest version. Epic really need to bring this game back to the drawing board and get it up to par with PC or else there's no point in releasing a sequel. I wanted to give this game a chance but it looks like crap. In this post MGS4 world looking like CoD 4 just isn't good enough more. Digital download games get a free pass because they're budget games but for a full retail game the expectations are higher now.
Can you imagine huge shocking potential of this technology once it is mastered? The gaming world as we know it will change forever. You wouldn't need to install a local copy of the game anymore, hell, you don't even need a gaming PC or even a console anymore once this is perfected.

The "nextgen" consoles are great if you want play games in 640p resolution. But if I want to play games with such pathetically low res resolution I would've gone back in time to 2004 and get myself a CRT monitor.

Agreed. WW 2 games are proven to be more balanced, that is until Treyarch totally destroyed the CoD formula by going arcade thus destroying CoD as a WW2 franchise.
If they bring CoD back to it's roots then it should be fine...unfortunately CoD 5 will take place in the Pacific which is pretty much a death sentence. All Pacific theater WW2 FPS sucks.
