MS saw the potential in the game, and bought to the trilogy before the EA buyout.

so for people who want a movie player, and aren't bluray/ps3 fanboys yours would be a solution, since your solution does nothing for people who want to watch all movies, not just a limited selection.
or they could be really smart, and just get a 60-80$ upscaling DVD player with HDMI and not notice the difference, and enjoy all movies from all companies.

I can't imagine how people watch the same movie over and over again. I watch once and then it's gone.
now purchased downloadable games, that has me interested. purchased movies? I haven't bought a disc in years, and have no intention to. so I get to watch HD movies without having to shell out hundreds of $$$$ for a useless player, and then 20$+ for more useless discs.

there are more people playing halo3 than those 2 games combined. and halo 3 had way more excitement about it that any other game up there as well.
I'm not gonna argue about which game is ACTUALLY better as everyone has their opinion, but as far as the most anticipated and highest selling game available, there is nothing bigger than halo 3 this yera. GTAIV may have given it a run for it's money, but even rockstar ran away from '07 scared of the halo machine;)
but none of those games are garnering the hype nor the sales that the other games up there are.(with the exception of ace combat)
not to say they aren't great titles, they just aren't moving, therefore gaining hyp and momentum. This is likely due to the relatively small user base of the ps3.

everything else I've seen on this game has it looking amazing and interesting, it may actually be something that makes me want a ps3.
but this trailer has 2 crappy looking mii's floating on the same pirate ship for 3 mins. poor advertising IMO.
I would have at least shown some different levels, different characters, etc...
but whatever, it's still gonna be a great game, just hopefully they do a better job promoting it in the future.
