It's official - credit card fraud didnt exist and wasnt possible until the PSN was hacked.

Jesus F**king Christ.

And in case any sensationalist gaming blogs are reading this looking for a headline - that was SARCASM.

Ive just "uboxed" a packet of crisps - I'll upload the video in a bit

What difference does it make if people do buy COD? It isnt a binary choice - either buy one or the other.

I've got just about every COD game release but I've ALSO got GT5, the uncharteds, halo 3, God/Gears Of War, etc.

Dont quite get the point you are making.

Not saying its legit but there wouldnt be much point in getting gamers to test network features in isolation - in that kind of scenario they would most likely get everybody involved to add each other as friends to test game invites, chat functions, etc

All this talk of Anonymous being made scapegoats by Sony is absolute Bullsh*t. They implicated themselves by:

a) attacking the psn a month or so before this attack
b) taking credit for that attack
c) publicly announcing a much bigger attack was on the way

Now that said bigger attack has been delivered they dont like it that they are being blamed - TOUGH SH1T!!

Games "news" sites make me laugh - all week long theres been story after story about the PSN attack, mostly based on nothing more than hearsay or rumour.

Now today we have an actual press conference from Sony on the matter outlining key facts and theres barely a mention to be found on n4g.

Classy.

@Arkrite I'm guessing you didnt go as far as actually, you know - watching the press conference or reading a decent transcript?

They clearly state that they are going to be offering free downloads of selected PSN content as well as the free month of PSN+.

I'm sure people will doubtless complain that this selected content will be crap, but unlike these people I am sadly unable to see the future.

"Secondly, all current PS3 owners will take their credit card data out of PSN as soon as its back online"

So you speak for all PS3 owners do you? Your assertion is wrong - I for one will continue to purchase from PSN using my card as I am sure will many many others.

Couldnt agree more - anyone deluding themselves that this couldnt happen to other online services such as Xbox Live is just kidding themselves.

"They knew this was the outcome for taking a stance against their user base"

99% of their user base dont give a toss about OtherOS, so please dont make out that you are speaking for all of us.

Please tell me in what way Microsoft "stands for the gamer".

They, like everybody else are in this business to make money. Or is charging for online play what you call "standing by gamers"

EDIT:

"Just do yourselves a favour and get a real gaming machine the Xbox 360."

I'm currently on my 6th "real gaming machine" after 5 RRODs btw. Just thought id mention.

And yet here you are, on n4g, commenting on other people not having a life.

If it is Anonymous or some other group what exactly is the point they are trying to make?

Are they seriously trying to protect the rights of a very small minority of PS3 users who want the Other OS feature reinstated, by ruining the online experience for the overwhelming majority of users.

Surely even they themselves must see how retarded that is, or am I giving them too much credit?

I almost hope it is Anonymous behind this - it would be worth a week of outages to see those little bell-ends get caught and locked up.

I'm more inclined to think they're a bunch of juvenile idiots who like having their 15 minutes of fame tbh

If you didnt want to get blamed for taking the PSN down in future, they shouldnt have took it down in the first place.

My heart bleeds for the little f**kers

@Roper316 when i purchased my console isnt particularly relevant - the fact is I knew exactly what I was purchasing (lack of B/C, how many USB slots, etc) when I bought it, just like everybody else. It's not like USB slots and memory card readers can be removed by a firmware update.

If people arent happy with it not having a memory card reader or any of the other features listed they have the option to not buy the console in the first place and choose a different system....

It's a bit tough to be honest - if they didnt want to be blamed for future attacks on the PSN they should never have attacked it in the first place

5410d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

B.C - not needed and not advertised on any of the ps3's ive bought

OtherOS - not needed AT ALL

Card Readers - not needed - and not advertised on any of the ps3s ive bought

Two USB ports - not needed, if you need more, you can get a usb hub

EDIT: BC would be nice admittedly, but it was never removed from a PS3 that already had it.

This is beside the point though - these changes to the PS3s feature set were...

F**king hackers - Sony removes a feature that 99% of users don't give a toss about so in response they decide to ruin the entire experience for anybody who wants to use the console for what it was intended for (i.e playing games)

F**king idiots.
