"videogames sell consoles, not the other way around." Kind of like Halo 3 pushed over 520,000 Xbox 360s in September....and will probably push more for the Holiday months of Oct, Nov, and Dec. Not to mention Mass Effect, which I'm sure Microsoft will push the marketing for as well.

The guy predicts weak sales for 360 but just before that claims that "games" sell the console. LOL....This guy should go and take a look at the NPD numbers for September...and c...

was good. However the autocombo system just seemed lame to me. It would have been OK if it didn't do damage while you blocked the hits. I just remember the original version of MK3 where Subzeros Iceclone move....quarter circle back and LP..was incredibly cheap. You could jump kick someone and do the Iceclone move in mid air to bounce back, and even if they were blocking and touched it they would freeze.

Midway later revised it so you couldn't use that move if you were too cl...

"Halo 3, of course, is the main draw, 'but game of the year contenders like BioShock and Mass Effect are also Xbox exclusives'"

By the way Pimphand I don't ignore anyone on this site. It is kind of funny how you try and act like you are superior to me. A truly unbiased gamer, Isn't it kind of like the pot calling the kettle black?

I have been a PC gamer first and foremost and also an Arcade gamer when they were stll around for a long time. I also don...

All the features they say are a reason to buy a PS3 aren't even related to gaming.

Bluray functionality = Hi-def movies = Not gaming
WiFi = A way to allow internet access = Not gaming
Hard Drive = Storage = Not gaming

But the article goes on to say if you want game of the year contenders like Bioshock and Mass Effect...Then get a 360 = Gaming..

"Unless you plan to just use your PS3 as a Blu-ray movie player – and honestly, stand-...

used to be an awesome franchise. Part 2 was the best in the series. When they made part 3 Midway added the auto-combo system which ruined it. Although the run button was a cool feature.

Part 4 got even worse with the transition to 3-D on the Zeus arcade board. But the fighting engine was at least still intact even though it had the cheesy weapons and the horibble motion capture.

Everything after part 4 has been garbage. There is no more "core" figh...

you have no idea how the industry works. You do realize that Sony's 1st party games studio consists mostly of companies they have bought.

A good example of this is Psygnosis. The games studio that makes Wipeout. They used to be big in th PC gaming scene back in the Amiga days.

Now Sony owns them bc they bought them out. As well as Sony just purchasing two big British gaming studios a couple weeks ago.

The console with the install base gets the support and the games. It was PS2 last gen, this gen it is Xbox 360. People seem to think there is some kind of "Brand Loyalty" in the games industry. 3rd party games publishers "don't care" which console wins. They just want to support the consoles that are winning.

To make PS3 games costs games producers "the most" money bc PS3 has the most expensive dev kits as well as longer production cycles bc of...

that no matter what great games will always sell the hardware. This is actually a huge feat that at European developed racer is pushing hardware in a Japanese market.

Props to Bizarre Creations for bringing out one of the truly Next-Gen type racing games to the industry.

to be true that Xbox 360 gamers do buy the highest percentage of games. Halo 3 is truly the killer app of 2007.

No doubt that Halo 3 will push 360 sales even higher for the months of Oct, Nov, and Dec...because of the Holiday shopping season.

Sony seems to realize that the 360 is really starting to take off. That is most likely why they cut the price of PS3 again in less than a year. Almost seems like a desperation move. Halo 3 seems to really have injected s...

I think that PS3 sales will never be as successful as PS2 sales. The Halo 3 "effect" is in full swing for the Holiday season. Xbox 360 even outsold the Wii for the month of September.

The install base gap is growing larger every month between Xbox 360 and PS3, as Xbox 360 keeps outselling PS3 on a worldwide basis every month. As the Xbox 360 install base continues to grow at a faster pace than the PS3, it will lead to stronger 3rd party support and more exclusive ga...

Halo 3 is the killer app of 2007. It will push Xbox 360 sales well into next year. The funniest think I have to quote "Everyone who wants Halo 3 has already bought a 360."

Just goes to show you that the skewed perception of N4G is not how things operate in the real world.

Xbox 360 consoles seem to really be taking off for the Holiday season. Outselling PS3 by over 4 to 1. This trend will only continue most likely with October, November and December seeing even more significant sales because of the Christmas shopping season.

It is not a good sign for Sony as NA sales for PS3 are even lower than last month.

Overall Microsoft couldn't have picked a better time to release Halo 3 and issue a price cut.

Worldwide sales ...

I crown you King Crybaby of N4G. So what if I use that pic. Do I report your stories that have RROD pics on them. Like I said there is a difference bw being a fan and being and "Extremist" like you are. This bizarre emotional attachment to the PS3. Grow up man. It'll be OK. Do you report TheMART every time he uses a Ken Kutaragi pic?? It's obvious you have some sort of emotional disdain towards me which is kind of sad because you don't even know me in real life.

That is a given. But the PS3 will most likely not catch the install bases of Xbox 360 and Wii. PS3 is still the most expensive out of the 3 consoles when you compare entry price points. 360 at $280, Wii at $250, and PS3 at $400.

In order for the PS3 to catch either the Wii or 360 it would have to sell 600,000 cosoles more than the 360 and Wii for over a year to catch up in install base. If PS3 sales are even marginally close to 360 or Wii, the PS3 will not catch up.

Most consumers bought PS2 when it was around the $199 price. This is the spot where mass market "purchasing" comes in.

Both the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii are closer to this price. Not to mention the games catalogue for 360 is much more robust than the lineup of games for the PS3. Well known IP's are what push consoles, not new IP's. Just look at how Halo 3 has pushed 360s for the month of September. The same will happen when Super Mario Galaxy is released for...
