Casuals are not a long time loyal consumer base.
Nintendo learned this the hard way.
Core gamers are the consumers that show long term support of their favorite brands.
Its the same with any other consumer market.
Sony has always known this.

I think the Wii U will be Nintendos last home game console.
With the current sales numbers and lack of interest from both gamers and casual consumers I just dont see how the Wii U can survive after the PS4 and the XboxNext launches.
The fact is that the next generation of game consoles will not be very appealing to the casual market for a number of reasons.
Both the PS3 and Xbox360 already feature many popular mainstream features and apps like Netflix ,Facebook etc.
The casual market non gamers will look at the PS4 and XboxNext and see the features and think "My PS3 / Xbox360 already does 90% of these things" why should I shell out another 400 to 500$ for anew console ?

I played through about half of Spec Ops :the line (free on PS Plus).
Its a decent game but the shoddy controls ruined the game for me.
I like Resident Evil 5 btw.
The Xbox360 is a solid machine performance wise , but lets be honest the 360 is maxed out.
The fact is that after God of War Ascension and the Last of Us the PS3 will be "maxed out".
That doesnt mean that both platforms dont have some great games ahead of them.
It looks as though there may be a lot of cross-gen games that will be ported between the PS3 and PS4.
Gran Turismo 6 could very well be a cross-gen game for example.
I have a lot of faith in Sony when it comes to long term support of their game consoles.
Look how long they supported the PS2.

There is a real possibility that the Wii U could become Nintendos Dreamcast once the PS4 and XboxNext arrive.
Its clear that Microsoft will be investing heavily in both Kinect 2.0 and more applications that gamers dont care about with XboxNext.
That will leave core Xbox gamers with Halo and Forza.
Recently there have been many comments over at the more informed forums like Gaf that Microsoft has been hiring a bunch of suits to run Xboxlive that have no experience or interest in gaming at all.

just FYI for all those trophie hunters. the Tomb Raider Trilogy (only on PS3 btw) features 3 full games each with full trophy sets including 3 platinums all one Blue Ray disc...sweet.
I will never buy a game digitally that features DRM on console or PC.
As others have stated this is the type of BS that pushes me away from digital.

It looks like the Gears of War franchise has ran out of steam and while Forza is a good game it is no Gran Turismo.
Microsoft really only has Halo as a true AAA system seller.
Right now the Wii U is overstocked at every gamestore , Walmart etc. in my area.
I hate that the Wii U is not selling because I am a long time Nintendo supporter / gamer.
If the Wii U was around the $200 range I would buy one asap. But at its current price and lack of games no.
