I think price had something to do it with it also. It's sold poorly when totaling all platforms it released on. Even sold poorly on PS5.
Doom The Dark Ages was a full price game, but the game itself doesn't show it, nor is it worth it.
Expedition 33 was $50, had more gameplay, quality and length overall.
Doom The Dark Ages was over priced. Should have been $50 at most for what you get in that game. (16 hours at most)
I would prefer a game that is in between, which is what we are seeing from some of these AA studios.
8 hours, regardless of how amazing it is, is way to short for a full priced game
80 hours of repetitive copy/paste gameplay is simply not respecting my time and is not worth full price.
30 - 40 hours of quality gameplay IMO is the sweet spot.
16 hours bare minimum of great quality for full price is acceptable for sure.
Hell yes.
Especially considering these $40-$50 games are going more then a lot of these $70-$80 AAA games.
Seems to be a common theme.
Perhaps people just wanted a proper Dragon Age game, not a Disney inspired Dragon Age, with awful writing.
Great way to encourage people to pirate.
If you do everything the game is roughly 16 hours long
16 hours for $70?
Lets compare
Clair Obscur offers 40+ hours for what $50 ?
Yeah, no.
There is zero justification to charge $70 for 16 hour game.
Pirate away folks, or at the very least get it on Gamepass.
Perhaps Sandfall can hold a special weekend, where they can invite Ubisoft and teach them how to make great games.
I wonder what mods will be out first....hahha
“Longer development periods”
LIES!
This would be true if the Switch 2 was a current generation console and outputting graphic fidelity of current gen, but it’s barely better then a PS4.
If they are saying that their games take as long to develop then high end current gen games, then that is a complete lie. Typical PR spin.
Just call it what it is - Greed.
I don’t see this being a big deal. The majority of the audience for Switch 2 are children or casual gamers, who don’t care about graphic fidelity.
I assume this isn't made by the same talentless team (harsh but true) that made Avowed?
You do realise that Forza, Gears of War are no longer XBox games right? They are published by Microsoft. Theres a difference. This is literally more reason not to need a XBox.
Don't want a lack of compassion? Then stop putting in a 'lack of effort' in your games.
Simple.
The lack of effort and creativity that are put into some games nowadays, is the equivalent of a person who is on social security because they are too lazy to work and are content with the bare minimum.
Looking forward to it. But damn, it's going to be tough playing Oblivion after playing KCD2. I hope they have modernized the gameplay mechanics.
Different audiences.
Switch majority audience made up of children and casual gamers. Steam Deck is not.
If a game follows the same design as another game that failed, it’s not wild at all to call it a failure before release.
Some devs just live in their own bubble and don’t serm to be aware of what makes a great game and what doesnt.
If you don’t learn and identify why you failed, you will continue to fail. Devs need to learn this.
You know what has gone down in video games, generally speaking, QUALITY.
You complain that games should increase in price, yet have not presented a valid justification.
Game quality in general in AAA games has decreased and you want to increase the price?
You want to increase price, because your games don't sell well. Your games don't sell well, because you put no effort and passion into making them great.
How about thi...
Agreed. I have noticed piracy as increased and to be honest, thats the Publishers fault. When the price you charge is greater then the value of the game, people will either not buy it, or pirate it and I don’t blame them.
These Switch 2 games are 9 years old as far as tech. No way the budget for these games match the budget for current gen AAA games.
Can’t wait for Switch 2 emulator
This just means I will be pirating this one.
If only you had stuck with the $60, you would have gotten $60 instead of $0.
