Wait what?! There are people who still play with general chat on? Microsoft spends 80% of their Xbox Live development on perfecting Party Chat FOR A REASON. The gaming community freaks out about lack of Single Player options (bots, etc) for a reason.
We knew online chat was junk 25 minutes into the original launch of Xbox Live in 2002. This article may as well been titled:

I think everyone (game journalists, N4G article posters, commenters, and gamers generally) are confusing NX for something that actually exists or that is going to exist anytime soon. 3 years between leaked start of development and finished console is the norm.
N64 - Project Reality 1993, Launch 1996
Xbox - DirectX machine 1998, Launch 2001
Wii - concept 2001, team put together 2003, Launch 2006
NX - NX "concept" revealed March 2015...

The Devs only hope is that most gamers have no interest or care that this game is coming out, so they may not see all the negative impressions. The game can then quietly come out to universal apathy rather than derision.

It's not too indie simply because it doesn't match any of the three criteria:
1. Be a 2D retro graphics sidescroller
2. Be available as a free PS+ title.
3. Developer offers unsolicited opinion on whether PS4/XB1 is easier to develop for.
So there are plenty of games that fit the criteria, but not this one.
Everyone keeps talking about Sacred 3, but ironically when that game was announced as a free GWG in a previous post, commenters joked how it felt like a PS+ free game. So Microsoft did learn from Sony!

How do you help or kill a genre that's been dead? It was good times, like Seinfeld or Lost, but we've moved on. Maybe in another 10 years you could see a nostalgia revival, but right guitar games are sitting next to MySpace in the uncanny valley of interest.

I think it's cool that the console wars are easing. Microsoft letting Sony choose their Games with Gold for this month was a nice gesture. Very PS+ like, giving away $20 indie games instead of AAA titles.
Wow Mighty No.9? They went there? Why not include Half-Life 3 in this list of upcoming 2016 Vita games?
I too fear for the possibility that there may be a Destiny 2 some day. I don't think I can handle another round of hype, disappointment, arguing, bitching, and pointless N4G articles.
