Yeah, I find this comment laughably ironic considering it was the Nintendo fans that DDOS'd Jim Sterling.
Have...any websites been DDOS'd for giving the game a perfect review? Perhaps one that I am unaware of?
I mean...it kinda HAS to be a "brief" guide at this point, doesn't it?
@fiveby9
I agree with you, but I think it's more important for them to understand it doesn't matter if they personally think it's funny or not. They do not dictate what is humorous to everyone in the world, and they certainly do not dictate what everyone in the world should consider offensive. So they need to just be adults and shut their goddamn mouths even if they don't get it.
It is a testament to the power of nudity that people are up in arms over a game as terrible as this.
...and I mean this game is TERRIBLE. It's as if no one ever told them what is best in life
I like the game a lot, but the hyperbole has been ridiculous. I think a lot of people were just ready for a truly great Zelda game after two fairly unremarkable ones (good as they were), so all of a sudden this is the greatest game of all time.
The game falls too heavily into open-world conventions for this to be as highly regarded as it is right now.
First, a "narrative" is just the written story. That includes plot. I don't really know you're trying to argue semantics with that one...
Second, after that initial Rabanastre run, Vaan and Penelo are pushed pretty far into the background. Basch, Ashe and Balthier's story all take center stage after the player gets acquainted with the game.
I like the game, but I just don't understand the level of devotion people are showing it. I would never in a million years consider it among the best games of all time as it's critical reception would suggest.
It just doesn't do anything particularly better than any other open world game. You're still claiming towers to reveal a map. You're still holding down forward for 80-90% of any given game session. You're still engaging in repetitive, mundane ...
The narrative was not bad AT ALL. It was fantasy politics in a franchise that predominantly focused on more melodramatic, romantic themes up to that point.
If you don't go in expecting cheesy romance scenes in pools of water, or tragic Shakespeare-esque deaths, or any "dastardly" cartoonish villains, then it's actually one of the most interesting and intricate narratives of the franchise.
I would just settle for games, to be honest...
That glitch at 4:02 in the video is pretty groovy. I wouldn't mind mellowing out to some Pink Floyd while playing with that glitch going.
Ironically, this list has been done so many times that I knew all of these things simply because I have read this list so many times...
"It's funny to see all of these people meltdown and feel so threatened by a perfect game."
I get the distinct impression that you know nothing about me...or any of the people you're referring to.
I am no Nintendo fanboy (and I am a vocal opponent of open world, to boot), but I love this game. Toning down some of the more convoluted mechanics that open world games are known for kind of frees up the more adventurous and free-spirited aspects of the genre. Everything just feels fun, instead of like a chore.
I agree. I kind of dread having to go into towns...
It's a shame too, because other than the framerate issues, this is easily the best Zelda game in almost 15 years. Hopefully we get a patch at some point...
Look, I love this game and I agree that it COULD be one of the best in the series, but it is disturbing to me how uniformly downplayed the technical issues have been in the media. The slowdown in this game KILLS it for me. Towns and combat are very nearly ruined because of the slowdown in docked mode.
The shortage IS intentional, make no mistake. Though a great deal of the blame can be aimed at the assholes buying up stock specifically with the intention of selling it to more assholes who will buy it for ridiculous mark-ups...because god forbid they wait a couple of weeks for a goddamned video game console.
He kept using this word, "gangbang."
...I do not think it means what he thinks it means.
Both the 3DS and Vita have received some pretty vocal criticism for their 3-5 hour battery life as well, and Nintendo has been quite insistent that the Switch be categorized as a portable system, so there is no reason we should not hold it to the same scrutiny. Not enough time is not enough time, whether you're getting better graphics out of the system or not.
You can tell that the PS4 version has better lighting, for sure.
I can't decide if you're being sarcastic, because that sounds like a perfect 10 game to me.
