switch's biggest problem isn't 3rd party support for games... it's actually apps...
i find myself reaching for me phone or surface way more than i reach for the switch.
nintendo get just 10 or so must have apps and they hit the jackpot...

Microsoft/Xbox did not cut a deal to keep it off any other platform... the game was just so happen to be coded for UWP (universal windows platform) so it just naturally works on the xbox one...

Xbox usually leaves servers up for yrs before bringing them down... Microsoft doesnt have to paybfor hosting... they can spin up/down servers on the spot

They would have NO choice but, to go with a Ryzen/Vega SoCand in 2018 (a FULL generation leap), that would still be very expensive...
that would make a PS5 $550+ (if sony werent willing to sell at a loss)

Forza Horizon 3 already set a pretty high bar...
Forza (Motorsport), GT, Project Cars, are all gonna have to come with something unique IMHO...
the BIG developers like EA, Activision, etc are using a new kit that works a pinch differently that what they were use to. programmable buttons to jump between One/S/Scorpio/PC isnt something that was always there.. a box that is already pre-programmed to know a lot of the current engines on the market now...
i would say big pappy is correct... developing should be easier for the big publishing/development houses...
this may be a dangerous road for xbox to travel down...

it would be overly expensive because it would have NO choice but to make that leap to a Ryzen/Vega SoC...
if sony were to release anything in the next 18months that is not a Ryzen/Vega combo, it would only be equal to or slightly more powerful than Scorpio... Wouldnt be worth the $$$ spent on R&D.
A Sony event in 2019 or 2020, to reveal the PS5 and a release date of the console in 2020.
that way new chipsets will be cheaper
