first and foremost, those are microsoft patents.. developed by microsoft corp.. why should they freely give away their work to a big time corp like google?
and no.. patents payments have nothing to do with gaming division...
microsoft is helping with the funding... so if the game doesnt pan out... microsoft's $$$ helps them absorb the blow to a certain extent...

Microsoft only gave you the HDMI cable that met hdmi spec, but not the actual port...
original launch xbox one units dont meet the required hdmi spec to support pass through for hrd/dolby vision.

microsoft has made it very clear that they dont even touch the game(s) coding at all..
it get run through their software and the algorithm compiles the bc code...
the team that over see's the back compat isnt part of any particular studio that makes games...
Play Anywhere isn't the issue...
The Windows Store is absolute trash... that's the issue...

But I've been patiently waiting for SoD2 and it's looking better and better each time it has been shown...
I hope there isn't any underlying issues with this game on Xbox, cause everything I've seen so far has been PC

those specs should be able to play all games at native 4K easily... also should be able to do most of them at 60fps as well... including open world games as well... at least on paper it should play out that way...
Those are some beautiful (rumored) specs...
Any console releasing with those kind of spec in the next 24 months or so is going to have a price point that easily exceeds $550 (USD)... Even if target ship date of parts were pushed back to drive down cost, the console would exceed $550 (USD)...
A console with those specs can retail for $600 (USD) easily...

old school Microsoft was very developer friendly... and not always bothering them
i believe it was the regular 30% amd exclusive rights to ME1...
when EA purchased Bioware, EA worked a deal with Microsoft to relinquish publishing rights...

PSNow isnt good for fighters or shooters..the latency is there no matter how good ur internet connection is..
when playing a solo adventure game or rpg, its fine... but fighters, shooter, its not up to par as local play
Playstation doesnt need it..
but multiple options on how you access a game wouldnt hurt...
good to see devs investing in their already released titles, for mid-gen consoles...
hopefully these updates to the mid-gen consoles don't takeaway from titles currently in development...
both sides giving some good titles for month of april...
i think Game Pass can be a jackpot for some of the smaller Indie Titles ... i actually can't wait to try some of these smaller titles...

For me personally, I had no interest in Game Pass initially.. then Microsoft was doing the $5 sale about a month ago... so i ended up locking in for 1.5yrs (expires June 2019 for me)
1.) Parents of non-working children... this a great deal pay for a month sub during summer/winter breaks without breaking the bank
2.) College students who may be on a strict budget.

8 out of 10 is a very good game to me...
1.) Faster cpu... perhaps 8-cores running at 3.5ghz minimum at least.
2.) 2 HDD's : HDD 1: 256GB (that houses the OS) and remaining space to install a game or 2 on it. HDD 2: 2TB
3.) gpu that can handle 1440/Ultra/120fps and 4K/Ultra/60fps without issue...
i think this would have to be a bear minimum IF these new boxes are releasing in 2020-2021 or so.
