"In comparison to Crysis these look crap."
Sure, but how does Crysis play in comparison? Oh wait, it doesn't.
We don't know how good or bad Crysis is going to be. Graphics are only part of the equation.
I'm considering jumping in on that HD-DVD attachment as well - I held off until now, for obvious reasons. ...and I know of at least one other friend who's bought it since this news broke!
really *CARES about your *SILLY little *RANT on *N4G dot *COM!
"As far as piracy rates in different countries are concerned; in the US it is 25 percent, in Asia Pacific 54 percent, Japan 27 percent, Korea 48 percent and China 92 percent. And dollar losses in Asia Pacific alone amounted to $4.8 billion in 2001. Regions having higher piracy rates are Eastern Europe and Africa."
" India is a huge country and a large number of users here are using pirated software. India is ranked at 23 in the list of 25 countries that lead the ...
Think about it - you're a company who just developed a game that is getting rave reviews across the board and you're just about to release this game publicly. Would you want to release it in a country/region that is infamous for pirating software? No - you wouldn't. You'd want to sell as many legitimate copies of your game as possible, and stall the piracy assembly line that is sure to happen in a region like India.
Indian Xbox fans shouldn't be complaining to MS or 2K, they...
First of all, there is a set of guidelines that we are all made aware of when becoming contributors on this website. This is a personal opinion being posted as news - it is not a "news article" by any standard. It belongs in the blog &/or forums sections of this site.
Secondly, I found the post to be arrogant in tone and amateur in composition - hardly newsworthy.
Finally, the most troubling part of the post is that the author continuously refers ...
...here's hoping it's in Vancouver instead of Toronto!
Get your facts straight, memory is not a significant use of SPACE - but it certainly is a source of heat (and is definitely prone to error DUE to heat)!
...Particularly fast RAM - the faster the ram is clocked, the more heat that is created.
...most of that noise is the dvd drive.
Moving to smaller wavelength lithography will decrease chip size, increase efficiency (both in raw materials and power consumption) and increase the reliability of the components due to less heat stress and hence mean-time-before-failure, MTBF.
Believe it or not, MTBF is an engineered value.
Additionally, in direct response to comment #1, it is the fact that MS is changing components that actually allows them to reduce costs and then pass on savings to the consum...
While I agree with you that this is a stupid article and I have reservations in seeing it getting approved (for reasons I'll outline below) I'm going to resist my urge to report it as 'lame'.
Reasons why this article is stupid:
1) See Bladestar's comment, above. How 'good' a game is, is completely subjective.
2) The source of this article leads me to believe that this is nothing more than a blog. Who is 'a crazed geek'? I could just as easily ...
...and I love Halo.
But it should've been reported for bad editing because "...peaked my interest" doesn't make sense. The word you're looking for is "piqued".
Just sayin'. =)
This is most likely an adjustment on currency as well as a price drop. MS no longer has a reason to charge a 25% premium ($499CAD vs $399US) on the 360 in Canada due to a weaker Canadian dollar.
When the 360 launched, the Canadian dollar was $0.84US. Now it is $0.95. The 16% difference is now 5%. ...So, a this is basically a price drop in conjunction with a currency adjustment.
Because the smaller lithography technology is relatively new and there weren't many (any?) manufacturers out there who'd made the initial investment and had the equipment setup to do the manufacturing. Then, after the investments are made and the process is started, they need to work out the kinks and bring yields up. The smaller you go the less margin for error you have, plus you introduce problems with cross-talk and other interference issues.
The trade-off is that once you...
You think that even though we know that all the demos and footage we've seen so far is from the 360 version of the game? And that the PS3 version is several weeks behind in development?
I had too many titles to worry about this fall, and with this moving to the spring it has less of a chance of getting bumped.
The GTA series has always been fun, but the late releases were starting to get boring for me. This game was in danger of getting cut from my list. Moving it to Spring might increase its chances because it probably wouldn't have got much of my play time alongside Halo 3, Bioshock and Mass Effect.
Plus, it gives them time to get it right. ...
How does this stuff keep getting approved?! This story has been posted numerous times already; in fact, it failed approval once about 3 hours ago for being a duplicate - yet people are still approving? Go check the "failed approval submissions" and it's staring you right in the face!
***The same story posted at a different site does NOT mean that it's a new story people - it's still a duplicate!***
I swear, you have to wade through 15 tons of crap on ...
Modifying your console to look different is one thing, and it doesn't harm anyone. But modifying the system hardware to exploit xbox live and facilitate cheating (as well as copyright infringement) is not a victimless crime - particularly when one is profiting from it.
I think this is the longest it's ever taken for the inevitable "Microsoft conspiracy" theory to make an appearance... But here it is, just like always.
Negative PS3 news? Must've been a big Microsoft clandestine operation! And then a huge cover-up, bigger than Watergate!
LOL!
I gotta hand it to you Sony Fanboys - you've got some vivid imaginations!!
