All signs point to a firmware upgrade ,if anything is all that would be needed. I don't think Toshiba would make their customers buy a new player. They wouldn't want to be like Sony.
This is awsome news for HD-DVD. Another step in the right direction. Blueray loses one of it ONLY advantages. All HD-DVD players will be able to read these.
It would matter how many PS3's got sold , but since not everyone who buys a PS3 uses it for watching movies, who give's a $hit.Everyone who buy's a HD-DVD player is buying it for one reason, watching movies. BD will be around for a little because of the PS3 ,but in no way do I think the PS3 will win the format war for BD. Dedicated Players will win the war, IMO.
You are right. If this game is really a 7.0-8.0, $5 to rent sounds much better then $65 to own and regret later. I am also really disappointed , I had this game pre-bought for a while and was really looking forward to it. But a 7 from most review sites just doesn't warrant a buy IMO.
I have always thought about Gamestop\GameInformer as being the same. I am surprised this isn't brought up more. As far as the movies go it is total prefrence. No bashing intended but HD-DVD has the more adult movies IMO, plus the IME, you could argue Blueray is lacking content.
It is an honest question. For months Sony has been nothing but arrogant, claiming victory on like 3 occasions. So this is a big change for the CEO to be talking like this. Maybe he knows somthing? Maybe , WB is leaving BD soon, I doubt it but who knows? There is a long way to go in this format war but, even Blueray fans must admit this CEO's comments did not sound good for Sony or Blueray.

That's like, your opinion man. I can argue, it doesn't mean I'm right , it doesn't mean your right. But for me, really I don't care about Disney(including POC), I hope they go to HD-DVD cause it's my preferred format and obviously would help HD-DVD. Shrek 3 , I could care a less. Lebowski,Hot Fuzz, Fear and Loathing, Shaun of the Dead ,Batman Begins,Transformers, these are some of my favorites, and could not do without them in HD.

Sony has to be sure they win every week for the year at any cost. It's pathetic. Eventually Bluray supporters will only only buy movies when the BOGO free deals are happening, they happen so much. I think HD-DVD has something up their sleave, as they have not done BOGO deal once. When they do ,I think it will be at the perfect time.
