MS continues to give away free games, but don't even come close to the PS4. First Titanfall, then FIFA, madden, destiny for a week. Next are sunset overdrive and assassins creed bf and unity. I wonder how far they are willing to go because this costs them millions of dollars.
@Foehammer You can try to spin sales numbers all you want but there's only one fair comparison. The 13 XO countries vs the same ps4 countries. Fact is, ps4 has been outselling XO in every country by at least 1.5:1 (maybe us is a little closer). It's that simple. And yes, XO is out in more countries now but too short for a good comparison.
Well I think Sony knew this was the real deal. When they called PS4 the best place to play Destiny and with the worldwide attention for the launch, they could not afford any downtime during the launch of the game. That would have given MS the opportunity for a marketing offensive, saying Xbox is the best place to play online.
I don't think Bungie had anything to do with it. It's a deal between Sony and Activision. The publisher makes those decisions, not the developer.
The fact that they always adjust Xbox numbers after MS releases sales (shipped) numbers without asking questions is even more pathetic. But when Sony does it they don't beleive it..
MS seems determined to invest a lot of money in their European sales. I doubt that this will make much difference though (maybe in the UK).
@death
I agree with most of your post except the first paragraph. He's talking about two markets (US/UK). MS launched in 13 markets. So they're not missing 33% but probably less than 10%. Ofcourse Xbone would have been closer with more markets. But some people want to make it seem like it would have been head to head. That's simply not true, the PS4 would stil have a big lead.
I don't know how this guy can say this with a straight face. He's bending cold hard facts into 'perception' and he still expects people to believe this? PS4 renders twice the amount of pixels in certain games compared to the XO counterparts. That's perception? No, those are facts. But I understand it, marketing guys don't like facts when they're not in their favor.
If it's already 3:1 in the US, imagine the numbers in Europe.. MS are already getting their asses kicked here in Europe. I'm guessing 10:1, and it would be higher if the UK wasn't a European country.
Well the PS4 install base is bigger but it's weird that the total software sales are still higher on Xbone.
@Truefan1. You're talking about people who don't see the entire picture, yet you fail to do so as well. Yes PS4 is available in more European countries. But the countries where Xone is not available only represent about 10-15% of the entire European market (my guess is that it's closer to 10 than 15%). Plus, and this is most important, in every country where both are available, the PS4 is outselling the Xone 2:1 (except for the UK where it's 1.5:1). So there's you're e...
@Lukas_Japonicus. Remember last gen? The PS2 outsold both PS3 and 360 in their first year so it's not that weird. Now is actually a good time to buy a PS3. There's a big library of games, it's relatively cheap and with PS+ you get free games every month.
Let me teach you something about averages by asking this question. If MS had launched in more countries, what do you think would have happened to the average per country? That's right, the average would have been lower. You ask Why? Simple: the markets are way smaller. Countries like Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium etc. are not gonna sell millions (or even hundreds of thousands) each.
Oh and now it's 3.9 to 4.2? You better check the official sales numbers th...
You got your numbers wrong. It wasn't 0.04%, it was 0.4% (that's four for every thousand). Now they say less than 1% (same comparison: ten for every thousand or less), so no it's not 30 times higher.
Well, considering Sony probably really pushed for high production due to higher demand than expected (since e3), less then 1% is very good. It still sucks for those 10.000 people (or less)but I hope they'll get a replacement console a soon a possible.
@TrippleAAARating
50% might seem like a lot but you gotta see things in perspective here.
First: Amazon probably sold a lot of consoles (my guess is around 100.000). There are 500 reviews up there, you say halve of them are doa's. Now even if only 10% of the people who received a bricked console wrote about it in a review, the failure rate of the PS4 would still be within industry average.
Second: People who receive a bricked console are far more likely to...
I was trying to be sarcastic here but apparently you didn't understand what I was trying to say.
What I was trying to say was that I thought it was rediculous that every bricked PS4 got it's own newsitem.
I'm definitely not picking on Sony, I'm gonna buy a PS4 myself. I was just trying to point out that the panic reactions to bricked PS4's were rediculous. But I guess it was a bad attempt, my bad.
Hey look, a PlayStation 4 that works (in their video)! This is big news! Maybe someone should make a news item about it cause that's what happened with every bricked PS4 so far.
@Palaven
Dude stop the bs about PS4 overheating. Even the FCC (an agency for approving consumer products for the american market) said that the PS4 runs at a lower temperture than PS3.

I agree, it's weird that they haven't anounced the gta bundle for the us. Besides that, I don't think the PS4 will lose much momentum in the US. Despite the agressive marketing from MS. And MS practically gave up on the rest of the world with their US only pricecut. So Sony will probably lose the holiday season to MS in the US, but not by a large margin. But they can easily maintain their position in the rest of the world.
