Incorrect, the Wii U launched at $299 and includes a Game Pad which is a major contributor to its cost, as above if it didn't have the Game Pad it could easily sell for around $200.
It matters not if the technology is new to the consumer.
A Ferrari could come out with a brand new $250k car but you won't see millions buying it because it isn't affordable.
There is absolutely no chance what-so-ever that the PS4 will cost the same as...
How is a 2nd SKU with larger drive redundant?
They just launched the super slim with a 12GB version, hell they actually launched three versions of the super slim!
So you think it is going to cost the same as the launch PS3 despite there not being any ground-breaking newly researched technologies such as the Cell and Blu-ray?
Of which Blu-ray had a major shortage of materials due to being new and thus had a high cost to produce.
Now all these years on Blu-ray is dirt cheap in comparison, and the rest of the console is pretty much using off-the-shelf parts tweaked to get the best bang for buck out of them in a console un...
UK is 3rd biggest game market.
Wii U is bombing.
@TheGamerDood bringing something sooner than expected is pretty much the definition of premature.
Don't panic, though I see what you mean and I agree with you.
This is not premature. We all know consoles are coming 2013.
This event will show the PS4 and we will get more gaming news and pricing at E3 followed by I think an October launch.
If it isn't the PS4, it has to be something very, very good.
Gaikai or PS4.
A good point, Qrphe.
Another point that backs my statement up.
You only have to look at the disagrees to tell people know I am right.
Sarobi, you miss my point.
Yes the Wii is a 'hot topic' as you put it, to those comparing the Wii against the new system at $299, but it was exactly the same back when the Wii was launched.
The Wii was the new system and the Gamecube was the 'hot topic' console available for a bargain bin price.
So you cannot use the excuse that the Wii being available at a bargain price is the reason why the Wii U didn't match Wii sales f...
And the Wii competed with the Gamecube which was also at a bargain bin price at the time of the Wii launch.
Your point?
I don't think they'd miss the Christmas period in Europe.
Europe is PS3's heartland.
Used to be how it is done. A massive hype building process, but now people want now, now, now.
You mainly have Apple to thank for this. 'Here is our amazing new product - and you can buy it in a week'.
OK, so let me get this straight.
Developers, who know consoles and game development inside out say the Wii U is 'slow'.
Nintendo fan site says said developers who have developed all their life are incorrect.
Well I just don't know who to believe here!
This.
I didn't hear people moaning that their CD walkman didn't play their old cassette tapes or that their DVD player wasn't playing their VHS tapes.
People are just WANT WANT WANT, NOW NOW NOW.
If you can't afford it without trading in your old console, save a little more.
Simple as.
Save for a bit longer then.
You don't have to have it immediately. And if you want the PS4 to play your PS3 games, you're clearly content playing those older games - so why the rush to immediately buy the new console at the highest price it will ever be?
I find the argument of trading in the old console to save money on the new one a flawed case.
Black Ops II doesn't have a lead platform and look how shoddy that looks on PS3 compared to 360 (I own a PS3 before you say I am a 360 fan boy).
Everyone seems to say how the PS3 is harder to develop for, so to me if PS3 isn't given more resource and thus could be defined the 'lead platform', it will end up looking the worst.
Wrong, he quite clearly said it when talking about 2013.
"As we look to calendar 2013...".
That part of the quote isn't on the source above - but the fuller quote is on other sites.
Quite correct.
They will _have_ to show the PS4 if they know MS is going to show the next Xbox.
They will need to make people not want to turn to the Xbox. They'll know people are itching after this lengthy console cycle.
I myself have a PS3 and I will be turning to the Xbox should it arrive first, I am sure I am not alone in that.
Bogus article.
Your device is only as good as the sum of all of its parts.
Might have a better GPU, but doesn't matter if it doesn't beat it in all other aspects.
Also do not forget the Vita is cheaper, the Vita is older and the Vita has, ultimately, one core target. Gaming.
The iPad is designed to do it all in equal proportions, so trade-offs will need to be made.
Seems like a lengthy charge time compared to its usage time.
Acceptable usage time though.
Grips are the same size, but slightly more rounded. This will please those that think it 'digs in' during long gaming sessions of tight grip.
The controller is a little bit taller and a fair bit wider.
