Or have any security at all it appears... No fire wall, known vulnerabilities, no central logging system, no intrusion detection systems...
Wow, I think the developers don't want it because it will fracture their base, because these consoles will be around for another 5 years at least, and then the developers are in the situation of having to release games for the Wii2, Xbox360, NextBox, Ps3, and PS4 all at the same time, and the install base wont be large enough to merit NextBox and PS4 exclusives for a few more years, massively increasing the cost of development...
They gave me a free month of xbl for my RROD console.
This article puts Sony in a bad light though, and this is N4G, why hasn't it been failed yet?
Wait, so whenever your house gets broken into, you wait two days to call cops, so you can take inventory of what was stolen, and consider how it might affect property values???
I want it to be over as well. All the extra load on XBL is causing my Hulu+ free week to be buggy and laggy.
Article is inaccurate. Sony is down in trading today.

Also, It is looking like the charge will officially be larger than Microsoft paid on RROD, so this crysis (sic) is 2 times larger.
Sony has already admitted that they have no idea who did this.

Oh and it was 100 million accounts, and oh yeah, congress is chastising Sony for acting crap around all this affair;P
Hey have you seen that all the news agencies are starting to use my 100 million number?
Edit,
Yeah, the WALL STREET F'ING JOURNAL needs to troll for hits. ROFL!!!!!!

The PS3 with the poweh of teh cell is perfect. PSN is just icing on the cake.
One hundred million accounts hacked, that is only $10 per class member. I would think they would want at least $15 each.
My xbox was down for like a week, see it was in Ohio, and I was in Florida for spring break. All I could do was say high to it from xbox.com.
But you know, I got to ride the very cool Harry Potter ride at Universal, and had my first experience with Butter Beer. No really the Harry Potter Island is very very cool.
Sony should try backing up some fire trucks to their server host and spraying sea water on it. Sure it will do some damage, but at least it will stop getting worse.
I don't think Microsoft wants an internet browser either for those reasons and about half a dozen more...
-- Microsoft has had their eye on flash for a good long time, they don't want to support flash
-- The console is, imo, an inferior platform for web browsing
-- Microsoft wants the attack surface for hacking the xbox as small as possible
-- more than nullify the other services on xbox, it would nullify the need for...
Wow you failed to understand the whole thesis of network security. I hope you didn't pay a lot for that class. I will try and re-explain the concept to you...
Yes, with time and access any lock can be defeated. In fact that is how safe locks are rated, by how long they take to defeat.
That is why you have a security guard standing in front of the safe with a gun. Well he doesn't have to have a gun, but the point of the lock is to delay the thieves...
That assumes the junkies don't go to the other dealer down the street who doesn't run into dry spells like this, and oh yeah, their junk isn't cut at much.
I thought Japanese Salary-men just committed suicide when they got fired?
I think it is supposed to show that the xbox is hackable exactly like the ps3 or something like that...
Therefore it slips by the normal n4g article conventions.
Yeah, a lot of those are dead accounts, and that is fine. But PCI-DSS regulations require that they delete unused accounts and data. Although I don't think the actual time before an account is called abandoned is stipulated.
