Nintendo is the same way. You need a Japanese account and pay with something that works in Japan. It's easier to play the games on switch, but purchasing is the same. Dont know about xbox, but I'm sure that's what they do.
I mean, yes, inefficient, but do you realize how much legal and people go through these things? It's not like you can write on a napkin and say, you can sell this without us, even though we went through the hassle of negotiating terms and invested in marketing or whatnot. Could communication been better? Probably, but the dev goes to social media to complain instead of due diligence? I mean, the article says the rights to transfer were confirmed. If they aren't legally able to sell th...
They delisted the titles. I'm guessing the devs can put the titles up themselves when they get the situation sorted out? I dont see the problem. The devs didnt want anything to do with nicalis, and now they are mad they delisted the games? If nicalis did the footwork to get all the titles on the digital storefronts, then I dont see why they couldn't delist them for the devs to put up.
@ noctis
The steam store had none of that in the beginning and took years to get how it is now. Just like Nintendo online being its " infancy", is it fair to say it sucks because it doesnt have what the other competitors have? Or is it a work in progress for the future?
Sounds like they are negotiating a deal for a better piece of the pie from steam. If they cant come to an agreement, well, the game is already being sold on epic store and ps4.
An average game cost 15- 40 million to make, give or take. At 60 dollars, 2 million sold is 120 million. That's not a failure. A game doesnt have to sell its install base to be a success. Granted, there are some bigger budget games, but most games would be happy to make 2 million sales.
For those that like subscriptions, more power to you. I have been a game collector for more than 30 years, and do not find a sub service to be for me. Rarely have I ever paid 60 dollars for a game as well, as I am a smart shopper. The whole digital/subscription way of gaming is just not for me.
I dont mind the term, but it does make it seem that metroid and castlevania invented the genre. Spoiler- they didnt. But they did popularize and refine the genre.
You are part of the reason it succeeded. If there were pushback from the beginning, maybe it would have been different. It has nothing to do with " walled gardens". Lol. It has to do with what the consumer will let them get away with. And now Sony does it because its money on the table now. It's just as stupid as people sinking money into world of warcraft for years.
