Nostalgia is not enough to overcome the games shortfalls. I agree with the score. I remember when the sequel came out, and I was asking myself, "why?".
Actually, I'm not surprised at this score at all. I get it. It was alot of people's first game, but I was gaming long before this game was out, and back then, I knew it was a terrible game. People seem to like it, but I'm not a fan in the least.
Probably because its essentially the same game with a few new assets. Why put a ton of money into development if they know their fanboys will eat it up?
To be fair, many, many arcade games would be lost and never heard from again, as most of the old companies have gone bankrupt or have had their assets sold to entities that have no intention of re releasing those properties. It must be the area that people are located. Where I am, the networks are very equal. Although, I do have to Lol at your numbers for third party games.
