Financially, it would make total sense to "flip on" backwards compatibility on Xbox One. (If only it were that simple)
If current 360 owners didn't have to jettison their games for $2.50 each, and could play on the Xbox One, it's one (or 50) less reasons NOT to buy one. The more people they can get on the new platform, the better!

Ummmm... I was one of the most avid defenders of Rockstar when the GTA:O debacle occurred. And for months after that. The game is still great, but, I am disappointed in R* for their lack of next-gen/PC support.
I would have assumed that by now an announcement for a PS4/XB1/PC version of at least GTA:Online would have been made. Porting over characters into a new version of GTA:O complete with heists/casinos/assassinations and a full mission editor.

You are 100% correct. The underlying issue here is that people simply don't understand crowd-funding. They are equating it to equity funding and VC investments.
Crowd-funding is much more similar to a straight-up e-commerce transaction. There are explicit rules in place to prevent investments from even occurring.

Hell yeah! I weirdly loved that game and never really had any idea what I was doing! It probably didn't help that I was 7 and didn't have the manual.
