Steam Deck and Ally don't really belong in that conversation-they're not at all mainstream. SD is impressive for an indie device, but has only sold a few million units. Ally is still under a million. Vita sold upward of 20 million and is considered a massive failure. An Xbox handheld would likely own the enthusiast handheld space immediately.

The pattern's become pretty predictable-Microsoft makes a wildly unpopular business shift, takes a bunch of heat, then Sony follows suit after. Everything Microsoft is doing now will become standard for Playstation over the next 2-3 years.
Has to be taken in context of platform. All start with a different handicap. Indies, VR and Nintendo are usually given extra leeway.

Just because it's doing crazy numbers outside of the western market. By all accounts it seems to be a fairly straightforward souls-like(ish) with a good presentation and fair amount of technical issues. People are latching onto the fact that it's outpacing Elden Ring etc. It's kind of like finding out the most followed artist on Spotify is Indian.
Which is apparently struggling to run with a 4090, so definitely leaving some questions about console performance.
