That was two million "players" but the vast majority of those people were gamepass players and half were free trial subs. And many people (families friends) use game share which allows multiple people to play games with one purchase.
You only have to look at how the numbers dropped off after the first two weeks and then again after 30 days. The population on that game absolutely tanked.

I have also priced matched with GCU, mostly Amazon sales and they always game me the GCU discount and double points.
As publisher Microsoft is the one who decides when the game is released and has the final say on things like quality. Remember Microsoft was all too quick to pull the plug on Scalebound and Fable when they didn't think things were the way they wanted. Microsoft could have helped the developer or given them more time or stopped production.

And if you bothered to read the article you would know that only 1.6% of the developers said they would choose Xbox for their indie games. All I did was rationalize it.
P.S. I have more money worth of unopened games for my PS4 than the cost of an Xbox X. I choose not to buy Xbox because I simply don't want one.
I don't know why anyone would choose Xbox, Switch seems to be the place to go and PS4 and PC just have raw numbers on their side. The only real reason to go with Xbox is if Microsoft is paying you.
Have you played it? I mean not polished is hardly how I would describe it. I don't want to say anything bad about Dragons Crown, I love that game and VanillaWare but honestly LWA has much more "game" to it. DC is basically just lets grind missions with minimal story.

I find it funny that people praise Dragons Crown but then give this game with plays pretty much the same low scores.
People who like Dragons Crown will love this game.
I'm not saying there will be a new game, I'm just saying Sony didn't talk about Ghosts of Tsushima then at the end of the show they showed it. Just because they haven't announced a new game doesn't mean there won't be one.

Where did Capcom say that MHW did "brilliant" on xbox?
What they said was a generalized comment that it sold well on home consoles. But sales figures show that the sales were extremely lopsided. I don't know why you would pretend that's not the case it's been the same with every Japanese multi-platform game this gen. Zero Japanese games that I know of have cracked 20% of their sales on xbox vs PS4.
No thanks to Japanese companies trying to make western games. That rational almost killed Japanese game development last gen.
That statement in it's entirety is the exact reason why Japanese developers shouldn't go to xbox, because xbox owners don't want Japanese games they "at best" want westernized games made by Japanese companies. Japanese companies should make Japanese games not try to make "bro shooters" to appeal to xbox owners.
You don't think these companies already have access to devkits? Nier, the game which most often pops up in these lists was made by Platinum who obviously had a dev kits since they were making Scalebound. Or SF V, obviously Capcom has dev kits ect.

I doubt there is any genuine interest in buying these games. It seems to me it's just about people being able to say "xbox has Japanese games" and taking away the exclusivity of them on PS4.
Even if these games came to xbox it would be with very little fanfare and sales of years old games would be extremely low. I imagine that most everyone who actually wanted to play these games already has them on PS4 or in some cases on PC.

Why would Capcom EVER make a Monster Hunter game exclusive for Xbox when only 12% of all of MHW's sales were on Xbox? Why would they exclude 90% of the people who made MHW the success that it is?
And if MHW which has already sold 7.5+ million why would Microsoft pay the HUGE sum of money to keep it off PS4?
If the next MH game is exclusive to anything it's FAR more likely to be PS4 exclusive than any of the other consoles.

Whats the deal with making these articles about getting games that are already on the PS4. Some of the games on this list have been exclusive for years. If someone wants to play these games just buy a PS4 and play them.

I am late to this topic but I think you have to define what "dead" is. For example if you look at pixel art sprite style games like you have on the NES and SNES they still exists but they have been largely relegated to indie and smaller budget games.
Now if you look at single player games in that light while obviously single player games will never stop being made but it's entirely possible that single player games will be relegated to low budget/indie games....
Nothing about MT's and loot boxes is "fun" or "fair".
Stronger CPU allows for more NPC's and better AI along with better physics among many other things.
If this gen has been the open world gen next gen could easily be the life like city gen where NPC's actually behave like humans performing far more complex tasks.
The leap from Jaguar to Ryzen is huge don't underestimate what that means for gaming and game programming.
