You have a point, maybe standards for a $60 game should be defined so that this does not happen. Some folks who are pro-360 feel the burn... it isn't just PS3 fans asking the tough questions.
This could've EASILY been fixed by allowing the missing maps that ODST has as DLC for HALO 3 owners at a discounted rate. Why not let Halo3 owners upgrade via DLC and play on the same maps as ODST users for $24.99? Maybe that is reasonable... why does a Halo3 owner have to REBUY much of...
ARS Technica is world renowned... this is the most level-headed honest non-fanboy review that you may ever read. Microsoft/Halo fans may want to avoid this article like the plague... or you may find out that ODST ain't the best thing since sliced bread, it is more like old stale moldy bread.

I didn't care if they gave it a -9.5, we all know the truth, and many sites are touting this game as one of the best in gaming HISTORY. 9.5, 10/10, 21/20... doesn't matter, the truth has already been laid out there.

Legit bought copy or downloaded torrent. The material is all the same. Same data and same game. If I downloaded ODST and played it, gave you an honest report on what is good and what is not, my opinion counts just as much as a review journalist of 5 years, when I have been gaming since the Atari 2600.
I know people may disagree, but WILD reviews at the end of both spectrum makes we WANT to download and play the game instead of buying it. I trusted the 10/10 reviews of Halo3...

AND the fact that the game has been leaked for a while now, there is no reason to keep gaming sites from reviewing the game unless something is amiss. Websites could have gotten a final release review, so this is strange indeed... not a first day buy for me, that's for sure. I wanna see what they are hiding.
If gamers are lucky, they are hiding a good surprise instead of a bag of flaws.
I think they know shoddy hardware when they see it. I think this is a huge obstacle for Japan support... the hardware reputation is awful. And amongst a more educated and electronics superior civilian population, the 360 is a hard sell.

I am glad I did, there is a reason why it was in the bargin bin after only two or three months. It was an abomination to gaming and the Ninja genre.

It is sad but that is how some of these deals are done. Halo goody bags, free copies of the game for the entire staff, a few new 360s to play the games on, etc.
Payola reviews are just like record companies bribing DJs, no wonder a lot of suck azz music gets played on the radio... and no wonder a lot of mediocre games score a 10/10 like Halo3 and GTA4, etc.
Reviewers need to get back to honest scoring on these games, at least as close to it as possible. Look, many folks are gonna buy this game no matter if IGN gave it a TWO. But some people's frustration with Halo is that once you visit three or four "supposedly" reputable sites and see the 10/10 scores... it leads you to believe that even Halo3 was a must buy. And I got a launch 60GB PS3 repaired/replaced for free a few months ago. I was worried that I would get a dumbed down version, but nope, they sent me a new shiny 60gb launch version PS3. I couldn't be happier with the ease of my replacement experience.
BBC got pwned entirely by that letter. It was a very impressive piece of correspondence, I would discourage BBC from airing that segment. The PS3 is about to make Sony very rich by owning BBC on the side.
Many folks need to get a new perscription from their Optometrist. The difference is night and day. The gameplay mechanics look much better probably due to the MUCH needed fix of the game Camera which in my opinion BROKE the game on the 360. It is actually the reason I stopped playing NG2 on my 360.

It was an unauthorized repair, so whoever's console failed after the so-called repair process may as well opened up the console and took a piss in it. In warranty and the out of warranty exchange option is no longer a choice for them. They should turn around and SUE this group for performing an unauthorized repair on their consoles.

I can't remember the last time I have seen such pwnage on email. Wow, it will get VERY interesting if BBC decides to go forward. The amount of money Sony could benefit in a damage lawsuit could be astronomical... so much in fact, that they could recoup any loses ever associated with PS3 hardware sales. The PS3 would immediately become very profitable for them.

Could you imagine if that was a 360 repair truck instead? The line would've wrapped around 5 city blocks for free repairs on bricked DVD drives, RRODs(since many are starting to go out of the warranty window), etc.
But it is an undeniable fact that the PS3's hardware quality is at least 5 times better than the 360. A toaster oven has better reliability than a 360.
The only thing I have against Halo is the fact that I got BURNED with all the fake 10/10 reviews it received last time. Do I believe ODST is a 3/10 - no, probably not. DO I believe ODST is a 10/10, hell no, given the recent history of the Halo franchise. HALO COMBAT EVOLVED gives me a hard on, this other watered down crap keeps gettiing defended at the expense of the quality of the Halo franchise. It has been degrading since Halo2 (which I still liked for the record).

Modders have been downloading and playing ODST from Torrents for over a week now. I think if ODST were a 10/10 game, some of the modders would've let us know by now. I doubt that it is a 3/10 (which is what 1.5/5 translates to, but you best believe it ain't a 10/10.
I mean honestly Halo3 ain't even 10/10, but it got the score anyways on many sites.
