A load of tosh?.. well, to be fair, he's telling the truth sir.. Xbox One is doing free and native backwards compatibility and they are also the only console offering the level of cross-play, cross-chat, and cross-buy with PC gamers..

And btw, having cross-buy and cross-play with a dead handheld (PS Vita) isn't remotely on the same level of being able to cross-buy and cross-play with a thriving PC community..

It would be great if they added the Mass Effect trilogy

@Razor777

Well, I certainly hope you don't trust Sony then.. Sony's arrogance with the PS3 launch was just as bad, if not worse, than Microsoft's with the Xbox One launch..

People sure do have short and selective memories..

well, i'm glad to see that you agree that Xbox One games should not be built with parity in mind..

To address you other statements:

1) I predict that 3rd party devs will get on board with Xbox One/PC mulitplats for "cloud powered" online gaming because (between the two) Microsoft is the only one who's made the claim about "the power of cloud" (they've been saying this stuff was possible since launch), they are the only one show...

@Genuine-User

Sure no problem. I'm not quite sure why there has to be a longer explanation later tonight though. It's really a simple question of whether or not you support "parity for parity's sake"..

to clarify: Do you support the idea of PS4 games being developed to the full extent of the PS4 system and its network features, regardless of the limitations of other platforms?

If the answer is "yes", then lo...

No, I'm asking you to directly address the title of the article:

"Should Xbox One games be built without parity?"

That question already works under the assumption that Xbox Cloud compute works, the developer has the resources to implement Xbox Compute, and the only reason the developers WOULDNT use Xbox Cloud would be for the sake of parity with the PS4 version..

All other considerations concerning install base, hardware specs, ...

the new Xbox One UI update looks just like the Xbox App on Windows 10. How does that have anything to do with the PS4?

Does the PS4 have some sort of ownership over the terms "fast", "easy", and "straight-forward"?

Take a look at the Xbox App on Windows 10 and take a look at the new Xbox One UI.. The PS4 has little to nothing to do with their new design language.. The Xbox App was made for Windows 10, the Xbox One is being updated to Windows 10, and both UIs look nearly identical.. Please tell me where the PS4 factors into this?..

@ joeorc

Microsoft is working very hard to blur the lines between "PC" and "Xbox One".. this is evident with their current Windows 10 plans.

So when it comes to the Xbox Cloud and 3rd party developers, expect that Xbox One install base to be combined with the PC installed base when they make their considerations.. A developer could easily make the decision to include these features for XBO/PC and not include them in the PS4 version witho...

And yet, you've still failed to address the question at hand: Should 3rd party developers not implement Xbox Cloud tech in multiplatform games purely for the sake of parity?.

The question of whether or not "pubs are dumb enough" to do this is an entirely different conversation..

And as a side note, I'd wager that Microsoft would market this as a "Windows 10" feature. Meaning that a 3rd party pub would use Xbox Cloud tech for Xbox...

Thar's what sales domination gets you.. plain and simple..

Competition is good.. stop being fanboys and stop excusing everything Sony does.

which is why every developer always says the final output of their Xbox One game is 1080p..

oh, wait.. no one says that..

in this particular case, they spelled out that the 360/PS3 versions were 720p (scaled internally) with no mention of their NATIVE resolution. If what you think is true, wouldn't they also have said 1080p (scaled internally) for the Xbox One if it was being upscaled?

It's 1080p/60fps for both consoles sir. It was...

ummm, no. for the 360/PS3 version (which are sub-HD upscaled to 720p), it says "720p (scaled internally)".. if that was the case for the Xbox One version, it would also say "1080p (scaled internally)"..

"final output 1080p" is plain and clear. The Xbox One version will run at 1080p.. more than likely, at the time of this posting, the XB1 version was 900p but they fully expected to get to 1080p for launch..

So yea, 1080p/60fps...

which is it?.. Is it impossible or is it commonplace?..

no sir, that level of destruction is a first for consoles.. That city is potentially the size of a GTA game, with every structure having a full interior that is 100% destructible, based on real physics and the materials, and the debris stays in-game after the destruction..

and this is with 8+ players all causing havoc at the same time.. absolutely phenomenal
